Cancelling lay mid acca

  • Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I can’t find the answer…
Would anyone recommend cancelling/trading out of a lay bet on an acca?

So I guess this would be a rare occasion, but I had the City v Leipzig game in one of my qualifying accas and it was pretty obvious in play at one point that Leipzig wouldn’t be able to come back (obviously there’s always a chance, but it was tiny once City scored 3+). The game was my last one in my acca (the other 3 bets had won), so if I had cancelled my lay bet, I would’ve won, rather than made a small qualifying loss.

(For context, I had my lay bet as a multiple on Smarkets)

Is that recommended? Or would I have screwed up my maths?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Would you have been able to cancel the lay bet at the stage, though? You might have had the option to trade out, but I bet the odds would have made that uneconomical.
