Difference between risk free bets and free bets?

  • Was just on the matched betting calculator and I noticed the two different options; one for free bet and another for risk free bet. what exactly is the difference?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

You don’t use your own money with a free bet and in most cases you only keep any winnings from the bet, but don’t get to keep the stake as well.

A risk free bet is stakes using your own money. If it wins then you keep all profit and get your stake returned. If it loses, the bookie will give you your stake back – sometimes as cash, and sometimes in the form of a free bet.
