Dutching with Lay Bets?
-
Hi Matt,
Great site. Very informative.
I’ve come across a potential opportunity (but I could be wrong). Details of market below:
Smarkets
Celtic to Win both halves (Yes/No)
Yes Lay odds: 3
No Lay odds: 5Is this an arb opportunity? Not even sure if it’s possible to have an arb when both side of the bet are a Lay bet? Your thoughts on this would be great.
Cheers

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Hi Harris, I’m not sure this is a profitable opportunity – an arb is when the back odds are greater than the lay odds which enables you to lock in a profit by backing and laying (though it’s not recommended on healthy accounts unless the bookie are running a specific boost on that market).
Never come across any mention of profiting from laying both sides of a market in some kind of reverse Dutch?? I assume it’s not possible but will stand corrected if anyone else knows better!
+0Hi Harris,
I don’t think there’s an opportunity here unfortunately.
If you were dutching with back bets, you would want as high odds as possible to lock in a profit. With lay bets like this, you would want as low odds as possible, certainly less than evens.
Hope that helps.
Matt
+0Cheers Lads, Yeah just said I’d mention it as wasn’t sure. I’m new to all this so still learning.
