Exchange issues (bad beats)

  • Are exchange issues a common problem? I had several yesterday-
    1. Smarkets halted a market in running. Apparently a technical issue, but prevented a lay bet being matched.
    2. Smarkets beta app nor registering a lay. The odds never updated so my bet appeared matched, whereas they apparently lengthened so didn’t
    3. Betfair refusing to accept an in play lay, kept circling back to previous screen when trying to confirm bet.

Feels a bit like a bad beat on poker where you do what should be the right thing but something out of your control means you don’t win.
Am I unlucky, or am I leaving too much to chance with in play or late bets, or is this something u have to ride out?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I suppose it is down to planning and having a contigency.

I haven’t had so many issues in fairness over the months, when I have it has been my own fault.

If you have your bet on and something happens sure you can always try cashing out your bet at the bookie for a small loss.

I am not sure why you are doing so many in-play bets, is it the tennis offer?

For in play bets the best time is half time in a football match, when the players are switching in a tennis match, end of quarter in basketball etc. Just a bit of common sense.

I can understand one issue here or there but if you are having them extremely regularly then look at when you’re putting your bets on? Is it an issue on your side with your browser/computer/internet connection?

It’s probably me trying to be clever more than matched betting principles to be fair.
Been making small profits and helping cycle deposit requirements by trading, hopefully laying pre race but sometimes laying mid-race.
So whilst it’s a potential issue for some gambling strategies it probably highlights planning/discipline for matched betting
