For the fellow MB veterans…

  • Right lads over the course of my matched betting journey I, like most of you have lost my fair share of bookies along the way, Paddy, Sky, 365, Hills etc… Now, I officially move home on the 26th of this month, new address, new internet along with a brand new bank account… You know the question that’s coming… Do I re-sign up for these bookies with my new details bearing in mind, name and DOB haven’t changed?

I’ve never attempted this before and always taken it on the chin (but that’s another matter entirely ?)… Some of you boys must have had some success?… Or maybe failures?

    Cheers

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I would make a typo with the date of birth and put Antony instead of Tony ov vice versa.

Maybe an idea, just wondering whether that’ll affect the verification process or owt?

I am in the same position but unlike you I’ve a really uncommon name so don’t think it’ll work for me.

I was wondering though that if my girlfriend can sign up again with her name after I marry her.

The wedding will cost you far more than your make 😉 dont bother :p

Im in same boat as you tony moving in next month or so, Sites like bet365, paddy etc i dont think ever asked me to send in any IDs. So I dont know how they can prove you are the same person. Hopefully they dont even try.

Im lucky to have a relatively common name so im sure they dont ban a John Smith etc. if they have the same DoB as one 10 miles down the road.

Cost £25 to change your name by deed poll would that work?

Is that really all it costs? Might have to change my name a year later and do it all again!

B365 will ask for two years of address history, so probably best not to try them for a couple of years.

@ suparhanz, a lot of bookies don’t bother asking for ID verification if you are on the electoral roll, if you move house you wont be registered at your new address (I don’t know how long that takes), so that would probably mean they would ask for ID.

@ Tony, if its possible (I’ve not tried this), can you close your gubbed accounts, and then open new ones with them once you have moved house. If they ask why, you could say you assumed you would have to open a new account, because you now have a new address. They probably wont believe you and will know exactly what you are up to, but I doubt they will do much about it, as your story is plausible,

So has anyone had any success tho? We want FACTS

And whats the worst bet365 or others can do if you say i dont have any proof of address prior to this year…say was travelling or summat?

I did hear a rumour that bet365 deletes all your data after a year if you delete your account there so you can sign up again and start afresh.

Yes you can sign up again and start fresh with B365 after a year of an inactive account. I did that. I hadn’t matched betted in the previous existence, i hadn’t been gubbed or restricted I just used it for casual betting. So it might be different if they have your email on a black list. So I needed a new username but signed up again with the same email, bank account … and got the sign up bonus again.

Most bookies now that I sign up to ask for id like a passport. They seem to be getting more and more strict on this, so … I am surprised others are having another experience where bookies don’t bother asking for verification. As far as I know now its a legal requirement that they have to. Perhaps because I am in Ireland though they can’t verify against the electoral register….

Its a tough one Tony, I think if your name was was very popular i.e something Smith then the chances are there probably is another Smith out there that shares the same birthday.

But quite a few bookies now do ask for ID so maybe make sure the picture is different, who knows how much they look into it, worth a try though for sure! Just start off with little bets etc as you wouldn’t want a ton in there/a big bet then they don’t pay out and keep the money!

I’ve already done this about a year ago. I did all of the sign up offers a few years back. I wasn’t using any of the bookie accounts at all for about 2 years. Then I moved address and did exactly what you want to do. The only bookie that flagged me up was Boyle sports. I don’t know whether or not my previous accounts where closed due to inactivity or not. Yes some bookies did ask for my previous address, I told them the truth and everything went through fine. I have withdrawn funds from every bookie and never had any issues
