Horse racing odds

• Hi, I placed a free bet on a horse at odd 13 and lay in Smarket at 13 also. The horse ended up winning in bookies…
  I am not familiar with horse racing but just wondering whether when one can lay at such a tight odd whether there is a strong possibility that the horse is likely to win…hence worthwhile underlay in such circumstancesbgoing forward…
