How do you introduce matched betting to your parents?
-
I live with my parents. I’ve created a separate account for matched betting but by law they must send a bank statement every year more or less. Even if I use paypal for matched betting I have to subscribe to the website with the calculators and guides for the offers.
I use the one for italy. It would appear in my invoice therefore it would tell my parents clearly that I’m doing matched betting in a year. Should I tell about it right now or wait for some results?
How should I introduce it? My father is quite rational, so if I explain it’s perfectly legal and risk-free money he should understand.
My mother is not. She is quite paranoid about many things.
I live with them and still economically depend on them so the issue have to be dealt with somehow.+1June 11, 2018 at 12:19 pm

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

By law you have to send bank statements?? To whom??
I think show them the theory, I see Matt has made 30k on his blog (congratulations!) and I’ve made a decent number (I’ve not added it up lately, about £4000-5000 in the last 2 and a half years), which I think is true of many people here. With matched betting you don’t lose, you don’t generally win big, but you don’t lose- so it’s not gambling. Let them know it’s mathematical, it’s not really any different to going to the local supermarket and seeing an incredible deal on Coffee where you get 2 for the price of 1 and selling them on ebay, in the same way, its a guaranteed profit- you invest a little and you get a little extra back.
They should be proud they have a son who wants to make some cash, legally and using mathematical skill. My maths has improved no end over the last couple of years, so that’s a nice bonus!
Be honest with them right from the start, hiding it makes it seem questionable!+0Have you told them yet?
What did they say?I suggest to be absolutely honest, and show them stats, and that so many people are doing it. Show them the article from Guardian etc as backup.
I told my gfriend, and she was (surprisingly!!!) ok with it. Well, I guess cause I pay for more stuff now, haha!
