In-Play Matched Bets

  • I have a free bet to use for in-play. Are there any general tips or good practice for doing in-play bets / laying against them to get the best returns?

Is it better to do at a particular time in the game to get the closest lay odds (early, half-time, close to end) etc.?
Is it best to do the bet on the winner or on next goal, or something else?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I generally do these at breaks in play – half time, between sets in tennis etc. so the odds settle down for a few minutes. Then just treat like any free bets – look for high odds.
Occasionally if the favourite is losing it’s worth betting on a comeback and waiting for that to happen – at which point the lay odds will drop and you’ll make more than the free bet value. But of course the comeback may not happen!
