Lost money on a matched bet

Hi guys , new to here but been browsing for a while , real issue today , placed a matched bet with netbet and smarkets to roll over bonus with netbet , placed £180 on stan wawrinka to win his match today and layed it on smarkets , he was 1 set up and 3- 0 up in the second then his opponent retired , netbet voided the match and returned my stake , but smarkets counted it as a wawrinka win and took my liability , so i lost £138 , anything i can do here guys , absolutely fuming.

Nothing you can do, I’m afraid. Different bookies and exchanges have different rules with regards to tennis retirements… You should try to check this in the future.

That’s my I avoid Tennis, its a shame all bookies don’t have the same rules…

Nothing you can do in afraid.
There aren’t many scenarios like this in matched betting, where the bookies and the exchanges judge it differently, but Tennis is definitely one to watch out for.

We saw the other day a similar one on horses, where a place was defined differently on the exchanges than the bookies meaning there was potential for both to lose.

I’m sure it’s infuriating today, but stick at it and you’ll make that £150back in no time.

Unfortunate. If you’re betting on tennis just search for “tennis betting rules arb” or similar words on google for instance. Should give you all the information without having to read all those rules (in return you rely on the list being correct ofc.)

Gutted. This is the reason I’ve always avoided tennis. Heard many stories of this before. At least it was only £130. A cheap price for a lesson learned

Thanks for the replies fellas, guess its a lesson learned then , no matched betting on tennis in future , im up overall this month so not really much of a loss but its a hefty chunk to lose, better start getting it back again this weekend!

Sorry to hear about this Newby1352, there used to be a sticky about Tennis on the MSE
matched betting forum, this has now been replaced by a sticky on Horse Racing. If you or anyone else want to bet on tennis in the future the tennis thread on MSE can be found by:-
