Oddsmatching Tools

  • Hi everyone, Im new to matched betting.
I may just be stupid, or there is an explanation for this, but why do oddsmatching tools like oddsmonkey and profitaccumulator give the incorrect back odds to what the bookies are really offering? For example backing Real Madrid only gives me odds of 1.4 on Betfair, whereas Oddsmonkey is telling me the odds will be 2.38.

    Thanks

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Are you sure you are comparing like for like? that sounds very much like you are looking at odds to win the game – 2.38 and odds to go through to the next round – 1.4 (I haven’t checked, but that sort of discrepancy doesn’t happen!)

BFEX Madrid is 2.36. Oddsmonkey same, but there are time delays so may change a bit.

Is there a chance you are seeing 1.4/1 or counting 1.4 as your profit and not adding your stake back on. Which would be 2.40, possibly Madrids odds earlier.

or you could be looking at madrid to win the first half, but when you go on to betfair youre looking at the 90min result?

I am fairly certain I am comparing like for like, I can’t put my finger on what i’m doing wrong here and its quite frustrating. Wish I could somehow post screengrabs to show you guys what I mean, but thank you for the swift replies.

OK, i think I figured it out and yes its my own stupidity. The back odds on the bookie’s website are always 1 lower than on the oddsmatching software as they don’t include the original stake, like MbPunter mentioned. Live and learn, thanks for the replies though, much appreciated.
