Own goals, struck crossbars and near misses

  • After watching Lionel Messi pass (yes… PASS!!!)a penalty to a teammate tonight, costing me a bet I had underlayed for him to score 2 and Barca to win (he had already scored 1 and Barca won 6-1!), I wondered if anyone else has any near miss stories, MB related or even from you mug punting days?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

You’re loss is another persons gain. Bet a few who had Saurez hatrick, were buzzing when Messi passed it over ey!!

I had Golden Chieftain @ 5.7 punted today with my free Coral bet! He was 7 lengths clear of the odds on fav and hit the second last fence and came off.

But that’s what it is. You win some and lose some. And if you’re going for value or removing the risk in the long run you should be up…

I tend to get more luck than bad luck. Had a run on betway where I won 17 out of 18 bets over a couple of days – I was winning everything including a couple of free bets on outsider horses.

Had a real lucky punt on a four horse accumulator that won me 1000 before Christmas.

I also punted a free bet on idol deputy @ 6/1 on paddy last November and 150 would have been a nice return but he went off at 11/1 and some how still won the race so that was a nice free 275 thanks to best odds guaranteed.

I suppose we kind of take luck or bad luck at least out of the equation when ppl like us bet. Can’t think of much bad luck at all.

from my mug punting days?, I was Matched Betting at the time etc,but only last October,I nearly fked up big time on Betfair, the Aussies versus Scotland in the World Cup Quarter-final in the rugby,I thought in my silly mind “Easy £100 ere”,so I did a silly lay bet on Scotland for £100,with LIability of £1000(which is half my bank),the scots were 10.0,still I thought “they will never beat the Aussies easy £100”,The Aussies were losing 30 seconds before the end,and I was well!! to say gutted or sick as a parrot would be an understatement, the cash out option had gone and I was fucked,I had basically resigned myself to the fact I had lost a grand(money I could not afford to lose all for a greedy £100),lucky for me the Aussies got a penalty 30 seconds before the end,and I’m like “please god let me get away with this I will never do it again”,the Aussies scored the penalty and won the game, and I was so relieved

So I got my so called “easy £100” but was 30 seconds away from losing £1000

Lesson learned,no more stupid fn lay bets on Betfair, even if the result seems like a sure thing, matched and risk free betting is the best way lol.

I remember that game. I was getting free bets on try scorers. So I had one free bet punted on Scotland to win by 0-5 points. Still remember in supermacs in Drogheda watching the last few minutes – ah I didn’t care so much it wasn’t my money I lost but it would have been nice to have had €35 free instead.

Haha my loss, your gain. Exactly what Ryan said about Suarez.

Yeah Fog was a heck of a game, but this prat (me) had £1000 of his own money on the line in that game, but that’s what I love about Matched Betting though, you can take a price boost and underlay or punt a free bet and you risk nothing(well maybe a qual loss under a quid that you would not slit your throat over),you can watch a sporting event with interest hoping for the right result but if it does go “pear shaped” you lose nothing, its like Tony said once “its like the thrill of a punt without the risk”.

I watched it back more times than I care to remember… Jumped the shadow of the fence… Never happened before and I doubt it will ever happen again!… I’d hate to believe it was a fix up!… That said my money’s still always on Annie lol

Yeah the shadow was the reason alright, was just odd given the circumstances.
Everyone had the Mullins’ quad that day, or indeed the treble.
    What a sickener it was.
