Should you punt or match bet?

  • I’ve been matched betting for four months and made around £4200, although I have spent about £3000 of this. I don’t have a full time job, I research and create websites around Amazon affiliate products, then do the SEO to get it onto the first two pages of Google, its a slow process, hence match betting for extra cash.

The Euro’s have been good, made some good profits, but yesterday I was doing the 1st/2nd place offers on the horse racing. I did six races and I had one 2nd place and one 1st place, so two free bets, £20 per horse. The first race I waiting for the odds to get closer, they didn’t, lost £8 in qualifying, won £17 from the free bet. Overall I was £18 up after six races and the liquidity used was around £800 through the bookies and exchanges.

The 5th race was a winner at 7.00 with both bookies and 6.40 exchange, so if I hadn’t had match betted it, the profit would have been £240 plus a free bet, so about £255, plus the first free bet, another £15, so a total profit of £90 over six races, total outlay would been £180, four races for 1st/2nd and one for 1st, total of nine horses backed.

The same happened on Friday with a 1st place offer, the horse won at 7.00, profit would have been £120, this was my first race of the day. Over the first nine days of July I’ve made £200 in matched betting, but after going over my bets, if they had been punted and match betted for the free bets, the profit would have been £560.

I know that punting is risky, but I know my limits, this is money for day to day living and improve my sites to generate more income for myself.

I have read on here about match betting on each way bet place bets, but it looks time consuming and I write articles during the day too.

So today I think I will punt the France vs Portugal game and hope France will in normal time lol

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Farang. You have to be very careful. I think you made the right decision to ditch your tipster but for the wrong reason. 11 horses will give you a very poor indication of how things will go long term. What if you had won instead of lost? Would you have upped your stakes? Would you have gone all in on your tipsters tips? If so it could be costly. Was there a promotion on those races?

To properly evaluate a tipster or strategy really need 100’s of sample points.

bets only win when you lay.

If i’m punting i think i’d rather do a 50% underlay with free bets, if the lay stake is £8, lay £4 instead for a small profit if you lose and a bigger profit if you win

@ Farang G unless the tipster is explaining in detail why he/she has selected a particular horse and what odds you require to make the bet profitable, then tipsters are a waste of time. Its very easy to spend years following one tipster after another (and paying for the privilege) and end up being thousands of pounds in the red, but still be unable to make profitable bets on your own.

There is no easy way to make money from betting (I’m talking long term), relying on tipsters will not do it, if it was that easy we would all be doing it.

I haven’t done anything since Monday afternoon betting wise, bit disillusioned with punting and match betting. A lot offers are not great, the horse racing offers coming 1st and 2nd are pretty hit and miss getting a free bet and time consuming finding good odds, I can spend all afternoon doing it for not much in return.

I’ve still got a some sign ups to do, which I do this week and next week, hopefully when the premier league starts again next month, there will be some good football offers.

I’ve been working on my website, improving the content, building more links to site, social media stuff. It’s another form of gambling building a website and generating revenue from it lol

Good luck with the web site Farang, I hope it works out well for you. I think the best way to regard matched betting is something to provide ones self and or ones family with some treats, perhaps an extra holiday or higher spec new car or something similar. I think the money from it is too uncertain and it would become too stressful to use it as living expences.
