Top tips for newbies

  • As an experienced match better, there’s a lot I wished I knew then that I knew now.

Like not worrying when I mess an offer up or not getting too narked when I get gunned.

    What’s everyone else’s top tips?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

You can use Top Cashback when signing up to some of the bookmakers to get some extra free money. If you’re not already signed up with them using my referral link here (https://tinyurl.com/kevwcdl) will give you an additional £5 free.
Coral, Ladbrokes, William Hill and Bet365 all give cash back when you join them from the top cashback site.

You could also try gambling deals for more cash back deals.
(https://tinyurl.com/y86kryo9) They have other bookmakers including betfair but their model is a bit different. Although they pay cashback every month it is only on net losses over the month. Still worth a look though. I made around £20 last month but other months not so much. Don’t bank on it but consider it an extra bonus if it works out.

My top tip for a newbie is to combine offers. for example, on a saturday when there’s lots of horse racing offers check on oddschecker to see which bookie has the best price for which horse and then back and lay accordingly. So you might have horse A at bet365 for the 4/1 offer, horse B for refund if 2nd at Sky, horse C for 2nd to SP at coral etc etc. That way you cover a lot of horses in the same race and you can take advantage of combined liabilities meaning you don’t need so much of a float in the exchange.

same idea for team sports (or tennis) where you can back a side and get something, betway used to have £5 per goal scored on your chosen team and so did 188. back each side and you’ll get something (unless its a nil-nil bore draw, which you could get money back at 365)

Another one for me would be not to join one of the paid matched betting services but instead look for freebies. £15/20 a month just eats your profit away. I know some people swear by them but I felt I was wasting money. Within a month I was sourcing my own anyway.

Somewhere like this place or http://www.winningstrategy.co.uk means newbies should avoid signing up to sites with big membership fees.
