VPN – Thailand, Spain, Morocco
-
hi all,
I know there have been a few comments previously about matched betting whilst temporarily outside of the UK but I wanted to set up a dedicated thread. I suspect there might be quite a few folk on here who are British but are betting from abroad and topping up their travel funds into their UK bank accounts. Someone mentioned they were in Guatemala a few weeks back but I can’t remember who.
Anyway, I just wondered if anyone doing this could share a little about their experiences, specifically regarding any potential problems.
Evidently a solid VPN is the most important thing to arrange (so as to maintain a UK IP address). Cyberghost seems to be a good option for Brits (and Europeans) but maybe there are more highly recommended service providers. I’d also be interested in knowing if VPN’s cause any problems in terms of speed (for getting bets on/ evaluating rapidly changing odds) and if anyone has any other concerns about them.
It sounds a bit surreal waking at 2:00am in South East Asia to matched bet Bolton v Rotherham. However, if it pays for most of what’s needed to get by then why the hell not!
Like a few people said before, if you’re just off on holiday for two weeks then you’ll probably be more relaxed with the laptop at home and the phone off. However, if you realise in March that you’re going to be in Tenerife on Grand National weekend then it seems – at least going by this year’s offers – that having a reliable VPN and taking a couple of hours off from the beach are probably more than justified.
