When, if ever, do dormant accounts get closed?

  • Hi, first post here.

I’m interested in matched betting and have done my first sign up bonus with no hiccups, after researching it thoroughly, mainly from this wonderful site and informative forum.

Now, the potential problem I have is that, about a decade ago I was into bonus whoring poker and casino sites, so am likely to have once upon a time had accounts at most of the major betting sites.

I can’t remember all of the places I did have accounts and passwords etc..

In the present day, I have a different address, different bank etc.., it’s just my name and date of birth that are unchanged.

So, whilst I don’t expect anyone to know how each of the bookies operate regarding dormant accounts, has anyone else been in a similar situation and got through getting sign up bonuses unscathed, without it being flagged as a multiple account?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I heard before that if a Bbet3665 account was left unused for a year then it’ be closed for good… but can’t say for sure if that’s true or not…

Bet365 is correct, I used to have on years ago for the odd punt, and then when I wanted to create a new one years late I just created a new one

That’s interesting. Wonder if other bookies are the same? Could certainly prolong the life of a matched bettor if so.

Wouldn’t say you could really pro long it….getting a new bet365 once every so many years? perhaps they have changed it yet, but I doubt many bookies close accounts for good as they know this would certainly happen..

I tried to open a betFred account, during the sign up they told me someone with my name and DOB already has an account and it wouldn’t let me. (Must have opened one 5+ years before)

I actually just changed my DOB by one day and took the risk, took a few hundred off then over 6weeks before standard gubbing, no mention of duplicate accounts.

Having said that, it’s often in the T&C’s that if they find evidence of duplicate accounts they can freeze your account and so you withdrawing. If say you had a decent argument if your other account was dormant for years though.

Too big of a risk for me that Blank if you’d won on big odds say £300 into your betfred out the exchange and then banned…£600 down could have easily asked for you to provide ID etc…not worth it imo.

What happened me with Bet365 was that I was able to open up a new account with the same email address, and was eligible for the welcome bonus again. I had to pick a different username though. This was just a few months back.

I was in the same boat with some of my recently opened accounts. I knew what e-mail i would have used previously, so i just input this into the ‘Forgot Password’ facility and if it came back ‘not found’ figured I was good to go.

Thanks for the replies, I’ll just tread carefully and be aware of the risks I’m taking, and just accept that I can’t moan if I get caught out.

But…, there is always my wife who can sign up instead.

I just tried to open a Betfred account and they said I already had one (I cant recall ever opening one). Spoke to them over the phone and they said I opened it in 2008 but has never been used. I asked if I could have the welcome bonus and they refused. Guy on the phone said I had to use it in the first 30 days of account! Guess I missed that by about 8 years 🙁
