Why do I do it to myself :(

  • I am the most unlucky gambler in the world, I don’t know why I bother but I never learn my lesson. Sometimes instead of taking the guaranteed profit from a free bet I gamble with it. Put my ten quid in-play on Leicester today and I just found out they were winning until the 89th minute. So bloody depressing. Makes you feel like shit when you have a bet so close to winning decent money (I would’ve got 50 quid) How do you guys control the urge to gamble with a free bet now and then?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Well today I went and watched my team concede a equaliser deep in injury time in the FA cup. Would definitely have been cheaper and less hassle than putting my free tenner on Leicester. I stopped at services on way back and put mine on 3-1 Spurs!!!

    Unlucky mate!

Did you lay the 3-1 or take a punt? I wouldn’t mind if my bet was nowhere near winning, but it was 2-1 in the 89th minute and on the verge of winning. Gambling is a cruel game

I just suck it up and move on, I spent the whole period of the match thinking my in play bet on willhill was on 2-2 and thought I’d won, when I checked it was actually on 1-1 so it lost. Makes me glad I pit this on as a mug bet or I would have lost on the exchanges too!

By all means have a punt now and again but the aim of the game is profit so limit yourself perhaps to a few mugs when you’ve got smaller free bets.

You just move on, you haven’t really gambled or lost as such it was only a £10 free bet? yes you could have extracted say £7 so you could see it as £7 loss but I wouldn’t. I also threw my free bet on Tottenham 2-1, at half time I could have lay’d this for guaranteed profit but chose not to and of course ended up with £0 which im not fussed about, I enjoy making it more exciting now and again with a free bet as its only a small dent in my overall profits. I also was very tempted to put my free bet on Leicester when they went 1-0 down I saw the odds where 11/1 then when it went 1-1 then 2-1 I wish I had!! But now obviously with it being 2-2 wouldn’t have made a difference.
I’d hardly say it makes you feel like shit…its not like you’ve lost £100 or anything like that, yes you would have had a nice little earner but ah well.
