I just realised it may be a better idea to put money on several horses on these extra place races, the win is more likely although it will not be for as much money but hey its a good trade off.

Seymour is 15 on B365, implies 4.5 to place. Can lay for 16 (win) and 4.2 (place). QL on £25.00 bet is -£0.63. Win £111.87 if he finishes in the extra place. So effective odds of 178.5 to finish 5th.
It gets confusing for me because this is a 4/1+ race too. So if I qualify for a free bet on the previous race then the first bet on the 16:00 is risk free. But if I do the bet e/w and he places then that equals NO refund. So potentially have taken qualifying loss in the previous race for nothing.

Also to mention the risk in putting this on early as if there is a few non-runners then the bookie might change the terms of the place, they may end up paying out on the top 4 only.

It is a handicap race, so does that means the number of runners would need to drop to 15 before the place terms are dropped? Or does each bookie pick and choose?

I’m not used to seeing such good odds for the extra place. Thought I was missing something. I’ve checked and double checked. But terms on 365 are 1-2-3-4-5 and market on smarkets is (Top 4). Odds are as I see.
I think backing all the horses will look suss. I usually don’t do more than 5.
