Bankroll Management Help

  • Aye lads,

Recently started doing the sign up offers but it’s a bit slippy at the beginning…

That’s what I thought: How do I get the best of all bookies (existing customer offers) + smarkets in terms of bankroll management across all platforms? I have £850

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

you could try and be very clever and optimise the exact amount in each place, but this completely goes out the window as soon as you make a bet and whether it wins or loses.
you basically want enough in your bank to deposit to your bookie for the offer you are attempting and the rest in the exchange.
When first starting out the main thing that slows everyone down is waiting for withdrawals, its just the nature of the thing unfortunately. Even if all your bets lose and the money ends up in your exchange you will still need to wait for the withdrawal from the exchange to the bank ready to recycle into the bookies again.
850 is a pretty good starting float though so you should be ok starting with the free bets offers and the ongoing offers with them to build up your cash for the bigger offers and strategies.

Cheers deathstar you absolute legend, thought no one would reply on this topic…

Here’s a very rookie mistake I did yesterday:

I made a list of the bookies who are offering free bets and risk free bets and registered in every single one of them. Decided to exploit the Free Bets first… Wanted to put the games ASAP so my bonus is credited for the weekend… BUT………. One of those bookies I”ve chosen obviously doesn’t accept PayPal deposits and that’s where I want to put money from… and the worst thing is… I noticed that after putting a bet on the exchange for the match I wanted to lay! Couldn’t deposit from my card as it is drained already and left it for luck… Do you think I should place my QF bet first or the first bet should be on the exchange?

first things first, you can back out of the exchange bet by putting some money on the back side. so if its smarkets use the green box and see what the odds are and bet accordingly. hopefully the odds will be similar so you shouldn’t lose too much.

You should always make the bet at the bookie first, simply because you don’t know if they will let you put the bet on. even having a fresh account without be limited some bookies will just not let you have tons of cash on, along with the fact it might be a price boost etc and only allow £10 per customer or something. and the other thing is the bookies price can change, and when they change, they really do change! not the 0.02 click like the exchange does but from 21 to 17 is not uncommon. of course this *could* go in your favour but sods law says it won’t!

sorry mate, I don’t do social media.
the main advice is slow down, take your time and do one offer at a time and you’ll be fine. the more you do, the more you learn and the better you’ll get. post your problems on here and we can have a look at them.

I’ve done all the FREE BETS and RISK FREE offers now, are the rest worth it? Or I start the blog offers now? And as I’m not very familiar – now that I’ve finished all offers, what can I make money of?

well, I don’t think you have enough money for the rollover offers, so just start following the blog. Personally I would focus on two or three bookies and do their ongoing offers so that your money doesn’t end up all over the place. The plan now is to increase your float so that you can start with the rollovers, bet365 especially. Have you bet on horses yet? sky, paddy, willhill, coral and betfred all have some sort of offer for horses, but they are not guaranteed to come in. Again, take it slow and just focus on one offer at a time until you find your feet.

Mate, help me I think I just f****d up massively…

I was doing the totesport 25 quid risk free offer…. and put 25 on Swindon Town to win… Then I went to smarkets, calculated the stake to match it and it was 21 pounds something and with the liability it cost 170 pounds… HOWEVER as I’m new and unexperienced I didn’t see that below the odds to Lay for Swindon the liquidity or whatever that is called is 4? It accepted my bet and when I went on my history of bets it had 5-6 bets with certain amounts saying matched bets, matched bets etc…. Did I mess up massively?

no it looks fine, here’s the bit you need to know “Bet fully matched – Sell Swindon Town” right at the top.
Basically what has happened is that when you put your lay on there was only £4 available, meaning someone had bet £4 on the other side of the market. So when you put your £21 on, you took that £4 and then started taking all the other bits of money as and when it was coming into the market. Hope that makes sense?
Doing that is usually fine for football as the market is huge, but you should get into the habit of checking the available cash. this might have been a problem in smaller sports but you shouldn’t really be looking at those yet anyway, its all about blending in.

So you’re saying everything’s fine and after the game ends on Sat I’ll have made up the profit of 15 quid I was looking for? Here’s what I’ve done:

PUT 25 on Swindon to Win at ToteSport (they say they’ll return my stake if it loses)
Put 21 on Swindon not to win at smarkets… bit confused here about the return of the stake?

Woah – slow down mate. Bookies and offers are going to be around for yonks. You won’t get rich quick.

Read the forums – especially Matts. Put on small bets till you get the hang of it.
If a bet looks too good, double, double check – 90%+ of the time it’s you that’s got something wrong.

btw I started with a £200 overdraft on my student loan account.

yes more or less. the exact workings are lay £ 21.49 on 8.8 at the exchange and you’ll get £16.49 assuming 80% extraction.
so basically you will get £16 odd if the bet wins, and be down if the bet loses BUT you will have a free bet to come of which you should get about £20+ out of.
