The downside is accounts get gubbed far quicker doing big eway arbs than they do nicking bonuses

In fact a good idea for a bit of extra insight knowledge would be check out my own bad eway naps thread on the matched betting thread (even if I do say so myself😁) as and when they appear. And then without maybe backing them yourself at first🤔- simply check the price of the horses tipped up and check the exchange win and place markets to see how it has entered into eway arb territory👍

Appreciate all of the replies guys. I’ve never really bothered with the extra place offers as the difference in odds are always far too high, and even if you do get a good match, actually hitting the extra place only happens once in a blue moon. Maybe I’ll need to look into it more.

No problem mate…extra place races can be very profitable long term..if you know how to pick and choose which ones are worth bothering with..takes a bit of knowledge and experience to spot the ones with true value..one simple thing to look for is a shortish price favourite..the shorter the better the race..also the closer it is to the min amount of runners for the extra place to count the better..simalar factors to a normal bad each way race👍

Likes all races..its maths..what are the odds you are getting..what are the odds its laying on the win and on the 3tp markets and also the 4tp markets..then calculate if its an arb/value shot..add one to this equation for place markets if its a 5 place race👍

Then decide if it is indeed a value shot/arb- how you are going to play it ..ie lay the win and 3 place market for a small loss with a value shot at hitting the extra place..or lay the win and the 4 place market for a locked n profit…or just value punt it!

To me extra place races are like normal races with different factors..some extra places are in effect bad each way races -and many are tosh -like normal races. On a whole a random extra place race is much more likely to have each way value than a random non extra place race. So they must always be looked at-at the very least- if one wants to maximise oppurtunites that come up from day to day👍

I learnt the hard way myself- a year or two ago I was backing in far too many extra place races..and im pretty sure took a decent chunk out of my good profits from other stuff..now i know when they are worth entering or not..prob only bet on about 15/20% of em now..wheras it used to be foolishly more like 50%🙃

With excellent knowledge and a clean set of accounts and a big exchange fund (something like 5k) A good Cheletham profit should be upwards of 2k. Last year I made over €5k on just one (had more luck hitting extra places than prob should have hit mind) Hopefully by next year you will have rinsed plenty of profits and got a fresh set of accounts to make some much bigger dosh👍
