Gubbed from Coral Without notification

  • Hi everyone,

New to matched betting. Had a go at Coral’s beaten by a length offer and managed to get 1 out of 5.

Logged in today and no free bet. Live chat informs me I am not eligible so will not receive the free bet!

No email or anything they took the stakes and tell me afterwards Im not entitled to the offer.

Surely it reflects false advertising to take a bet with a promotion advertised only to say no when the player wins?

Ive never liked Coral, I had to chase my poker sign up offer they never credited and customer service stinks!

Anyway, I doubt there will be much money in this matched betting malarky if they ‘gub’ accounts after a punter lands one single free bet. It was only for a fiver as well!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Your not the first person I have read about who has had a similar experience, I think Coral are far to quick to gub people, they must be loosing lots of mug punters as well as matched bettors at the moment.

I think the glory days of matched betting are well behind us, and there is no going back to them, however I think there is still money to be made doing all this. It just not the money that could be acquired some time back.

You will find some bookies will not be as quick to gub you as Coral, and so you can make a bit more money from them, but eventually you will loose all your accounts, but by that time you should have made several thousand pounds, dependant on how much time and effort your willing to put into all this.

Check out this thread and you will see what some of the guys made yesterday, but remember these guys are now experienced matched bettors and know exactly what they are doing, and what to do should something go wrong.

That’s shitty of Coral. I had the same with WillHill a few months ago. Some of the bookies are very honest and inform you straight away when you’re gubbed.

As Dave says though, there’s still a lot of money to be made. And the thread he posts is really interesting, though I’ve not got round to it myself just yet. There are risks involved in it, and I’d perhaps suggest not attempting it until you’ve made a couple of grand profit from regular MBing first, just so you’re a confident MBer and any losses will come out of your profits.

Dave ,with respect, the winnings mentioned on that thread are ok but nothing like what could be achieved a few months ago with the Hills and Ladbrokes 2nd place offers on Channe 4 races combined with Bet365 offer.
We are all living on scraps from the few accounts we have left.

Thanks for the replies, hopefully Coral are a one off and my other accounts will stay ‘ungubbed’ and allow me to do enough offers to make some profit out of matched betting.

Since lay bets on the exchanges are against other punters, you wouldnt think bookies would be bothered, it makes no difference to their profits.

I did 5 £5 single bets with Coral, not one of them won so they made their profit regardless of me laying them off! Only one qualified for a free bet and they refused me it. Shocking company. Why even bother running promotions?

I checked that thread Dave Jones, it is encouraging. Reading this site over the last few weeks Im thinking even more profits will be available once the football starts.

Your right johnd the second place offers were great, but too many people started doing them as matched better became ever more popular, the bookies could not sustain the kinds of losses they were making on these types of offers, so they had to do something about it.

Johnbo when you first start match betting its difficult to understand why the bookies are bothered about it, because the money seems to be coming from the exchanges. This is not the case however, all the profits from match betting come eventually from the bookies which is why they hate match bettors.

This is also why you will often get gubbed or even restricted from a bookie even though you have lost money at the bookie, they will be looking at your betting behaviour and if they suspect your a matched bettor they will gub you, as they know long term they will loose money to you.

Dave – what do you mean that “all the profits from match betting come eventually from the bookies”?

Surely if you can sustain your “losers” through the bookmakers whilst your “winners” are coming through the Exchanges then the bookmakers are not losing out? Appreciate that they also use exchanges to cover their losses at times, but thats not matching up to specific punters.

Only started with the Matched Betting a month or so ago, and have generally been pulling most profit out from an Exchange. Being fully aware of gubbing / restricting I’m always hoping that my bets lose with the bookmakers, but of course sometimes this doesn’t happen.

Once football season is back underway I intend to keep placing some “fun” bets on my accounts here and there so that it doesnt stand out as just being used for betting only on events where offers are available, but expect it will be gubbed sooner or later.

That’s annoying and very unprofessional of them. However don’t worry they weren’t the best bookie out there anyway.

WASTID, the money comes from the bookies. Think about this.

Where do you get the freebets?
Where must you place the freebets?
If you use the freebet on a 5/1 shot, how many times will it be before you win? (In theory)
    Who pays for the winnings?
    Who paid for the stake?

Simple answers, to find your answer.

Suppose there is that angle to view it – but quite often the free bet is lower than the original loss with matched betting, and often it takes a few losses to hit a free bet offer.

Don’t think I will be feeling sorry for bookies any time soon. 🙂

They don’t refund free bets if the bet is void – just lose it. Thieving Wassocks!

WASTID seems you are another one u fails to grasp.

The free bets are what makes us money…the free bets are provided by the bookie…therefore the profit comes from the bookie FULL STOP
