Hello from a new member

  • Hi all, just signed up to say Hi. I started match betting yesterday by doing the Coral offer and made £18, moving on to the next offer now.

About 10 years ago I used to trade on the price of horses on Betfair pre race and occasionally at the start of races in play if they were over a certain length. So I’m not entirely new to this type of thing but have never done this with bonuses before.

If I can realistically make something near what is happening in the profit log, on top of my existing day job wage I will be very happy!

I used to do something similar with blackjack and bonuses from casinos back in the day too but they increased the wagering requirements so much that it was no longer worth the time invested to extract the bonuses.

Are any of you guys making near to what the profit log shows on the site?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Also, I’d like to tackle the big Bet 365 bonus soon so if anyone can give me any tips on how to most efficiently do this I’d be very grateful.

Do you just Oddsmonkey to make your ‘pick’?

Yeah sounds like you know what your doing for the 365 offer. Just find close odds over 1.5 and make sure you have enough money to meet the rollover

Cheers, my liquidity is poor right now as just got back from a Florida trip so I’ll wait for that one then and do some small ones first.

Yeah best sticking to smaller offers for now then. 365 have an inplay offer which is very good so if one appears as I expect for an upcoming England game, then it’d be worth opening an account to take part in that offer. You don’t need to do the sign up bonus straight away you’ll have a few months for 365

    Welcome!
for bet365 you need at least £1200 in your exchange, so do the smaller offers until your float gets bigger. It doesn’t take that long and you will gain the experience from doing so although it sounds like you have a good grasp on things.
There are plenty of threads on the subject, here’s a couple

For things that can go wrong, just search the forums for “winner” and you’ll see what a nightmare they are. (bet365 are much better in terms of T+Cs, but fore-armed and fore-warned)

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for the replies and those links AND most importantly, the good advice!

If I can I’ll put £200 into 365 when I get paid in case the offer you mentioned comes about.

    I have a question:

Is it worth me signing up to Oddsmonkey to get access to the ‘premium’ oddsmatcher?

I calculated that I pulled around 65% out of the paddy power bonus yesterday, I had to look at offers from the bookies on the free version and the odds for those events were poorer at paddy power.

just to clarify, for bet 365 you get 3 months to do the rollover requirement but the bonus is for the first deposit. so you can do the inplay offers as part of the rollover but bear in mind the risk free bet is treated as an SNR bet so that will be on longer odds, therefore more risk of wiping out your exchange float if it wins. Same with the 4/1 horses. I think you knew that but just to make sure.

As for paying for odds matchers, it depends what you are doing really. I find they are very useful for horses where the odds change very quickly, whereas on football the odds are much slower to move and easier to find decent matches. if you are struggling take a look at over/under markets, correct score or half time/full time closer to kick off. Finding good odds matches is an art form and comes easier with practice. Its a bit of a pain that the football season is over because even though there’s a big tournament on there are very few games to use.

Thank you Deathstar. I did understand but it’s still good to have things spelled out so that I don’t make a mistake.

I was considering Oddsmonkey for a few reasons, ease of use walking me through all these newbie bonuses, use of the oddsmatcher while I do it (with all bookies included), and finally for the daily offers that are supposed to be posted there to keep me going if I ever do get through all these signups.

Did Paddypower today, unfotunately my horse won, never thought I’d say that but I keep winning at the bookies when I wish I was winning on the exchange instead.

winning is an occupational hazard unfortunately, and actually it really is better to get winning and losing out of the equation. I know that is difficult when just starting out though, especially when you are having to shift your float around and waiting for withdrawals.
I use oddsmonkey for their matcher. they do have guides for doing various bets, which mostly are explained here but I suppose having it explained in a different way would help while you’re still learning and a daily offer list, but again they are mostly listed here. They do have a list of casino offers though so I expect you would want to explore them given your background. They’ve got a forum as well, but I’ve never looked at it so can’t comment.

I guess the best thing to do would be sign up for a month and see how you get on. you can always cancel if you don’t feel its worth it.

    Good luck.

To get out of the unfortunately my horse won syndrome try underlaying it slightly depending on what you want to risk. And example would be yesterdays sky horse racing money back second or third. I did a £25 stake but only layed £20. Horse came second so i got the free bet fo a £5 loss but @ 11/2 could have been a decent winner. Or it could have easily finished outside the 3.

Thanks Deathstar, I’ve gone for Oddsmonkey, as you say, the extra information in the guides is a nice confidence boost as I go into each new sign up.

I think I’m going to forego the casino offers, I looked at their 888 one and they’re having you do a 35x wagering requirement for a measly £15 max withdrawal. No thank you! They obviously care more about getting you to use their affiliate link because I’d be advising people to skip that one.

Thank you Pickle! I learned about over and underlaying yesterday so now understand what you mean 🙂
