Question for Matt

  • There was a thread in the matched betting forum that was started and swiftly deleted. I won’t repeat who by or what was in it but could you tell us why it was deleted please? Thanks.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Time for someone in the know to start the thread then? Fog?

Isn’t it similar to your Betfair EW Edge thread Fog?

Maybe I didn’t read it properly.

Yeah matchedem. Similar to the ew edge thread. There are certain scenarios that the oddsmonkey poster found which gave good value.

I’ve always had my eye on the ew edge gadget. So as usual if I spot something I find with value then I’ll post it over there. Of course I have some info on what sort of races to focus on now.

It’s basically trying to hit 2nd place on large handicap races with long priced horses, which is going to be hard. The value is roughly what mbpunter has posted, so EV about £10 profit for each £25ew stake (total £50). It’s risk free profit but not guaranteed per race.

Will keep your account ticking over but unless you go in with huge stakes like £100’s it’s not going to exactly be a gold mine. And if you do go in with huge stakes then expect to be restricted especially now the loophole has been exposed…. betfair will probably have something set up already to identify ppl gaining an advantage on this.

I made sure to copy the post. Seems easier than EW arbing if you can find a suitable race. It’s basically by reducing the number of places, you’re getting enough value on the win part that you won’t need to lay the place and can let that roll.

I looked into it for today but couldn’t see a single race with 16+ runners.

So this is only with betfairsportsbook then?

Yes, it is their ‘Each way edge’ feature. Far as I’m aware no others have such a tool.

I’m under the impression a few people knew how to exploit this and when the guy revealed all when gubbed/restricted they came down like a ton of bricks. I mean i sure would if making that kind of profit on something only a very select few knew about, thing is everything is becoming more open now as normal mb comes to a close. Just see the substantial recent increase in ew arb. ACCA insurance. Now if only i was clever enough to find and exploit something off my own back and excellent at Excel to create calculators (rather than nicking everyone elses).

You feel great when OM add a new tool , then annoyed as you realise every other bugger will be up to the same tricks. Just imagine how pissed off you’d be if doing the tool, before the tool existed.

I guess its more a big handicap weekend thing than mid week racing?

We’ll have to wait a day or two and see! On the face of it, it seems less time and stress consuming than EW arbing – if it runs like has been suggested.

But anon the poster was winning 1200 on the place part which means stake of 200+ which means an exchange liability of ~8000. Outside of my league…

With smaller or average stakes then the return will be similar to ew arbing although yes maybe easier, maybe less stress. Remains to be seen how easy these arbs are to spot. And what happens with non runners!

It’s been a couple of days and nothing while meanwhile the traditional ew arbers have been busily posting opportunities on the “no chat” thread, so seems to be more opps there.

Yeah i wouldn’t ditch ew arbing.
This is more comparable to extra place races. A string of no returns followed by a big win.
Although you are getting paid at higher odds. In the example of a horse being 12/1 you’d end up with 5/1 on the place as opposed to 3/1 if it was an extra place race.
But as FOG says still a few unknowns like non runners.
