  • I know this ran for the whole August but just checked today and I can still boost my odds??

Hope this contunues as it really helped boost my August profits.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Yeah I’ve been throwing a few in, and changing tact slightly on the boost. Although not giving up the heavy stakes as chances are the writing is on the wall for a reason

    Hi All,

New poster here but must confess I have been lurking for a while.
I have been matching betting for a year now, originally just as a bit of fun but soon realised there was some good money to be made with a bit of effort..
I’ve already progressed to putting £200 on a horse and hoping to get the 15% 2 clear. I managed to hit two today and get £90 in free bets.

Yesterday I put a boosted £200 bet on just before a race started, immediately went to lay it but the lay odds quickly drifted by around 1.0. I cashed out the bet on WHill, got my £200 back which was good because the horse didn’t win but I was unable to use the boost on another bet.

It got me thinking whether it would be a good tactic to use the boost at the start of the day and hopefully get a decent arb before the race begin and if not just cash out.

Are there any negatives to this approach?
Lay odds drift, you cash out, you lose your boost.
If the horse becomes a non-runner, do you also lose your boost?
If you continually cash out bets, are you more likely to get gubbed?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    SB

You may lose your boost, and if the horse drifts badly the cashout value drops.

You have to pick the right horses at the right times, but I’ve made hundreds doing this. I think once I had to take a loss laying in running based on SP and BOG. –
The cashout drops by a lot when the price drifts so you’ve got to be comfortable to take a big hit that way or lay quickly at the start of a race if you do this tactic.

Thanks for the reply betman. I didn’t realise the cashout value drops, makes sense really, it’s not something I normally use, previously if the odds have drifted I have still layed the bet or let it run for a loss. I still have a lot to learn but doing okay at the moment.

I’ve not worked out he drop point, you get bit of leeway at 100% cashout then it drops sharply.
Pick the right horse around 3 or 4 to 1 then you should be pretty safe on the cashout, but still in a decent position for a risk free shot at £100+ if you’re on a shortening horse with the boost

@RyanB: Yep, I was gubbed over 6 months ago, but I’m able to use these boosts. This is my only account.

I could do odds at over 3+ before, but now I have to keep it under that to use the full 200.

I used my boost on the draw in the Chelsea game yesterday to get a risk free bet on the win lose on bet365 … in case of a 2-up. No upside in that game, but then when I did UTD on William Hill to win for £500 return I got the 4 means more bonus up but it only paid me a £19.96 bonus free bet for a £366 stake which I thought was low… but now I realise that the 15% is paid on your winnings not your payout ha. I didn’t back them there for the 4 means more bonus anyway…so all upside.

So I guess it’s better to use this for bigger odds with the equivalent 2 clear 15% on the horses? … a fancied 2nd or 3rd fav maybe? Are you doing this on small fields like with 3 – 6 runners or 2 or 3 strong contenders in a larger field of donkeys?

I used to do the racing ages ago but gave it up a while ago to be honest. I stick to mainly football, but always interested to know how to leverage any opportunity if you don’t mind sharing?

I look to use my boost on a small field (minimum 6 or more runners for 2 clear) on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd fav as long as the lay odds are close. Brighton 14:10 and 15:45 look good to me for today’s 2 clear. I usually check about 15 minutes before the off and keep flicking between Smarkets and Hills.

They seem to have dropped the 100% cashout option now. Even with a price shortening I was being offered less

Looks like I’ve been let off the leash a bit with the traders, but then everything’s come in since. Well almost everything – My 125-1 treble only had 2 of the outside legs come In!

Not done much match betting to be honest… but this boost is helping a little.

I’ve generally been minimising risk in some convoluted ways… but have been looking at laying more closely recently – Must admit I am a bit at sea with this though. If I look at laying Roma for tomorrow’s game on the exchange then it’s currently at 1.28 – so for £500 my liability is going to be £140 – However, even if I just take some regular odds without even shopping around I can get a better price?, so for example on bet365 I can cover the draw and Roma to lose both to return £500 for £83.33 (5/1) and £41.66 (11/1) so costing me only £125 instead of £140 … Am I missing something here??

    Missing 2 things –
    1) 83.33 x 5 = about £416 not £500
    2) you would have also lost £41.66 laying the opposition so would be over £120 down with the draw

The method is called dutching, search for dutching calculator online and you’ll find one easy enough to plug the odds in

Back the point of the post don’t look at odds of 1.28 for the boost, you won’t get much out of it.

Cheers for the quick reply … I do see that, but I’m not looking to win £500 I’m looking at the total return – I have other options covered (let’s say in a treble which is just relying on Napoli to win as the the last leg and it returns me £600) so there’s more upside for me the cheaper I can cover these two outcomes.

Essentially I am just trying to find the cheapest way of covering them off. Hence my 5 x 83.33 = £500 with stake returned for the draw. Same on the 11/1… Am I right though, that I am better off with these two prices than the 1.28 to lay Roma which looks like it will cost me £140? Didn’t mean to be confusing!

    No
Write down the 3 possible results then under each result write down the outcome of each bet. E.g. for the draw bet you would right-50 under home and away, then + 416 for the draw.
Sum them all up and you’ll have your net position for each outcome.

May sound a tad patronising but it’s best way to see what’s going on.

Boost isn’t showing for me now. Hope it’s just that they’ve forgotten to switch it on for October and it’ll be on later
