WINNER – Deceptive £200 Welcome Bonus… Help!

  • So I opened an account with Winner, depositing the full £200 to get £200 matched. I read the summarised T&Cs but couldn’t open the full ones, so I just clicked accept anyway…

There is a £3,200 turnover requirement, and if you happen to keep winning in Winner and your lay bets in the exchange lose, you CANNOT withdraw any of the profits until you have bet on 8 different matches with at least £50 each. This wouldn’t sound so bad until you realise they will effectively STEAL money you have made in your account, using your own money, unless you have done these 8 bets (which reduces your likelihood of a quick payout) AND THEN bet £3,200! That means if you’re unlucky – like me – and your 3/1 shot comes off you’re left with £1,440 in your account and you need to either clear it, or bet another £1,800 just to make sure you don’t LOSE IT ALL after 14 days.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get around it?? This is NOT a welcome bonus that should be endorsed on Matched Betting Blog EVER IMO…

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

What do you mean effectively STEAL your money? this is bonus money? it isn’t yours unless you meet the requirements….there is a few threads regarding Winner I agree it is a very difficult bonus and shouldn’t be tackled by anyone other than the experienced matched betters…however, regardless of you not being able to open the full terms & conditions that is an error in itself..you should always read the terms inside and out before tackling welcome bonus’s. I’m sure you also have to be half the rollover on multiples? Unless they’ve changed it slightly…

This is exactly why I won’t even begin to go near that offer. I won’t even touch the Bet365 one and that’s an absolute treat in comparison.

The most important rule of Matched Betting before anything is to read the T&Cs for everything and make sure you have a full understanding of it all. If you don’t, just don’t do it.

I feel awful for you, but can’t offer any advice or help apart from “read things in depth first and if you can’t, don’t touch it”.

    This again.

Just takes patience, a few losing £100 bets here and there. Took me 4 days but I got £185 out of my bonus and was very happy.

    1. Read T&Cs
    2. Have a good float
    3. Have a plan
    4. Say thank you to winner ???

This is not one for a novice but can make you the big dollars.

By steal I guess he means bonus winnings tied up in winner when the lay bet has lost to the exchange.

If say the first bet using the bonus of £200,your bet stake is £400 in total and it wins at 3/1 your bonus balance would now be £800 which you cannot access unless you meet the rollover requirements, but you have actually lost £800 in real money to the exchange.

Chris if you made £185 out of the Winner offer that is amazing but I just cant see how you could achieve that with their T & C’s.

If you got perfect matches and all your 8 different bets you would still have lost 2 % comission on £3,200 rollover requirements.

Are you sure you have calculated your profit of £185 accruately

    It’s even worse,
    6. At least 50% of your bets towards the turnover requirements must be placed on multiples (bets with more than 1 selection).

and in case you get unlucky
    9. The maximum amount that can be converted to cash and withdrawn from the total balance (both bonus and cash balance) is £2,000. Any amount that exceeds £2,000 will be forfeited.

But if you stay below 6.25% (200/3200) loss on average, you should not lose any money. Betting on horse racing minutes before the start can easily give you small losses of 0-1%.

It isnt deceptive at all. I wouldnt go near it with a bargepole though. Only thing they havent included is you need to drop your pants outside Buckingham Palace and provide them with photographic evidence.

I suppose its very possible Patrick depending on how many losing bets he had. 4 losing £100 bets in a row you could prob bank more than £185 profit. I got a 11/1 winner off a free bet yesterday Chris had the same horse. Its things like that winning when you dont really want them to that totally puts me off this offer though.

I just put odds into trickybet £400 on @ 2.5 and lay @ 2.52. If it lost youd only lose £8 and the deal would be over. Problem would be if it didnt lose youd then have £1k to lose. Far too risky for me to take on but each to his own.

I think it is possibly to win 185 match betting this offer, Patrick. You just have to lose the bonus to the exchange. But that just takes luck.

I would never do winner. I’ve look at it a couple of times but passed it up. No value there my opinion.

And I don’t have any sympathy for someone who hasn’t read the terms and conditions.

Winner have a simpler welcome offer, bet £25 and get £50 free bets, 5 x 10. I did it last week
