How Long Does Matched Betting Take?

Updated: March 10, 2022

So, you’ve discovered how much you can earn with matched betting and now you want to know how long it takes?

The good news is you can start profiting right away!

It’s important to stress from the outset that you should take matched betting completely at your own pace. Everyone learns at a different rate. You just need to read things thoroughly and take your time with everything while you learn the process.

I was a newbie once too. When I discovered matched betting, I was excited to have found a legitimate way to make money online. I just wanted to get stuck in as fast as I could, but there really is no need to rush.

Rushing only leads to mistakes and mistakes can be costly (been there, got the t-shirt!).

How long does it take to get started?

It should take you about an hour to get started. That includes reading through my newbie guides and setting up your first couple of accounts.

You’ll find that a lot of your time as a newbie will be spent setting up your new bookmaker accounts and depositing funds into them, ready to tackle their sign up offers.

It should take you around 15 minutes to complete each sign up offer and then much less when you move onto reload offers.

With every offer you complete, your confidence will build and the process will become quicker. This means you’ll be able to do more offers and ultimately make more money.

How much time will I need to commit?

You can commit as much or as little time as you would like. It really depends on how much you want to make. It’s very true that the more time you’re able to commit, the more money you’ll be able to make.

I’d like to think for every hour you’re able to commit, you should be able to earn between £15 and £20. So, if your monthly target is to make £500 profit, you would need to commit around an hour each day.

That doesn’t mean you have to do it religiously every day. You can have some days where you do more than one hour and other days where you do nothing at all. Some days are busier than others too. Weekends tend to be pretty busy for sports, which means there are usually plenty of offers flying around.

The great thing about matched betting is that it’s pretty flexible in terms of when you can do the offers, which helps when balancing with other commitments such as work and family.

Can I place my bets the night before?

Unlike betting shops, online bookmakers are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can place your bets at a time that suits you.

It’s always preferable to place your bets as close to the event as possible as this is when most regular punters will be placing their bets.

If you have other commitments though, like working weekends or during one of the big horse racing festivals, there’s no harm in placing your bets the night before.

Can you do matched betting long-term?

Absolutely! The sign up offers are very much just a starting point. Once you’ve exhausted those, you can start taking advantage of reload offers.

Reload offers are designed to keep active customers betting and to draw in old customers who haven’t placed a bet for a while.

When there’s a big football match or a big horse race coming up, you’ll often see a number of bookmakers running reload offers and competing for business, very much in the same way they do with their sign up offers for new customers.

Conclusion

Try to think of your time as an investment, with the profits being your return on that investment.

I’ve always found it rather satisfying, making money out of clicking a few buttons and placing a few bets.

No matter how much or how little time you have spare, you can use that time to make money with matched betting!
