Betfair Offer – Joshua v Klitschko

It’s being billed as the fight of the decade and you don’t want to miss this Betfair Sportsbook offer. Place a pre-fight Match Odds bet on Joshua v Klitschko and if our selection wins in the first 3 rounds, Betfair will double our odds. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £9.35 and here’s how…

Joshua v Klitschko - Betfair Offer

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

In order to be eligible for this offer, our £25.00 (max.) qualifying bet must be placed pre-fight on the Match Odds market for Joshua v Klitschko. If our selection wins the fight in the first 3 rounds, Betfair will double our odds. Winnings will be paid in cash at the normal price and then topped up to double odds with free bets.

So, for example, if we place £25.00 on a winning selection at odds of 2.00 (evens), we would receive £50.00 in cash and £25.00 in free bets.

Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Anthony Joshua.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

Place £25.00 on Anthony Joshua @ 1.50 = Potential profit of £12.50

smarkets white

Lay £24.83 on Anthony Joshua @ 1.53 = Potential liability of £13.15

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Joshua wins outside the first 3 rounds + £12.50 – £13.15 = £0.65 loss
Joshua wins in first 3 rounds + £12.50 – £13.15 + £10.00 (80% extracted from £12.50 free bet) = £9.35 profit
Joshua doesn’t win – £25.00 + £24.33 = £0.67 loss

So, if Anthony Joshua wins the fight in the first 3 rounds, we’ll make a nice profit of £9.35! Any other outcome and we’ll have made a maximum loss of £0.67. Risking £0.67 to make £9.35 profit, gives us effective odds of 14.96. So, given that the odds are 6.50 for Joshua to win in the first 3 rounds, this a profitable offer in the long run.

Free bets will be credited within 24 hours of the fight ending and will be valid for 48 hours.

If you’re unsure how to extract 80% of any free bet, check out my Free Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
