The 2018 PDC World Darts Championship is underway and the bookies are getting in on the action! There are some great offers available for the duration of the tournament, so provided we minimise our qualifying losses, we stand a great chance of making some big profits and here’s how…
Available Offers:
Bookie | Offer |
---|---|
Betway | Double winnings as a free bet up to £25.00 on Match Winner bets if your selection loses the first set but wins the match |
Bruce Betting | Double winnings as a free bet up to £25.00 on Match Winner bets if your selection loses the first set but wins the match |
Coral | Double winnings as a free bet up to £50.00 on Match Betting bets if your selection wins the match on a double 20 |
Qualifying Bets:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
The strategy is the same for all three offers. We just need to select players with tight back and lay odds in order to minimise our qualifying losses and hope we hit the double winnings triggers.
The following example is for the Betway offer. Having looked at the odds available for Stephen Bunting v Dimitri van den Bergh, we could place a qualifying bet on Stephen Bunting.
With double winnings offers, we would ordinarily work out the back stake that gives us the maximum possible free bet. As these offers are probably available for the duration of the tournament, it’s important that we are consistent with our stake sizes, so we should stake £25.00 at Betway.
I like to place my exchange lay bets with Betfair as they have great liquidity and the site is really easy to use.
We can calculate our lay stakes using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £25.10…
Place £25.00 on Stephen Bunting @ 1.727 = Potential profit of £18.18
Lay £25.10 on Stephen Bunting @ 1.77= Potential liability of £19.32
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Bunting wins having won the first set | + £18.18 – £19.32 = £1.14 loss |
Bunting wins having lost the first set | + £18.18 – £19.32 + £13.64 (extract 75% from our £18.18 free bet) = £12.50 profit |
Bunting doesn’t win | – £25.00 + £23.84 = £1.16 loss |
So, if Stephen Bunting wins the match having lost the first set, we’ll make a nice profit of £12.50. Any other outcome and we’ll have made a maximum loss of £1.16. Risking £1.16 to make a profit of £12.50, gives us effective odds of 10.78, which I’m sure you’ll agree makes this is a profitable offer in the long run.
I’ll update the following tables throughout the tournament with some selections…
