The African Cup of Nations 2019 gets underway on Friday and you don’t want to miss this William Hill offer! Simply bet £20.00 on the Tournament Winner market and William Hill will give us a £5.00 free bet every time our selected team wins a match. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £23.97 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- Qualifying bets must be placed between 00:01 on Friday 14th June 2019 and 21:00 (kick-off) on Friday 21st June 2019.
- We must place a £20.00 Win or £10.00 Each Way bet on the Outright market for the African Cup Of Nations 2019.
- We’ll receive a £5.00 free bet every time our selected team wins a match in 90 minutes.
Qualifying Bet:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
It’s entirely up to you who you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Senegal.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Betfair gives us the smallest qualifying loss.
Just bear in mind that our exchange funds will potentially be tied up until the end of the tournament on Friday 19th July 2019.
The alternative is to not lay our bet and just let the qualifying bet run. Senegal should win enough matches to cover some of the £20.00 stake and we could win big if they go on to win the tournament.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £16.77…
Place £20.00 on Senegal @ 6.50 = Potential profit of £110.00
Lay £16.77 on Senegal @ 7.80 = Potential liability of £114.03
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|
Senegal win | +£110.00 | -£114.03 | £4.03 loss |
Senegal don’t win | -£20.00 | +£15.93 | £4.07 loss |
So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose a maximum of £4.07 in qualifying for our potential free bets.
Free Bets:
We’ll receive a £5.00 free bet every time Senegal win a match in 90 minutes.
If Senegal win the tournament having won all 7 matches in 90 minutes, we’ll receive £35.00 in free bets.
Free bets will be credited by 12:00 the following day and will be valid for 4 days. Free bet stakes will not be included in any returns.
By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £35.00 in free bets, so £28.00. If we take into account our qualifying loss of £4.03, this gives us a potential profit of £23.97 on this William Hill offer!
* Senegal won four matches in 90 minutes but failed to win the tournament, resulting in a profit of £11.93 on this William Hill offer. *

Guest userIs it worth waiting til closer to the tournament to minimise the qualifying loss?
Matt
1490The back and lay odds may tighten up closer to the tournament starting, but there are no guarantees.
Nick
Guest userThe odds are awful at the minute. Even at the time of posting I couldn’t see them this close, and they have got worse. Closest I can get at the minute is £7.20 qualifying loss.
Matt
1490Those odds on Senegal were definitely available at the time of posting Nick.
There’s plenty of time yet for the odds to tighten up.

1490You can lay your bet whenever Christopher, but there are no guarantees that the odds will move the way you want them to.

Guest userI’ve layed Egypt at 5’s. It hasn’t matched yet but I’m going to risk the lay odds coming down after they beat Zimbabwe tonight.

Guest userDone Morocco at 11-12.5 under £3 QL, having looked at their group I only expect them to lose to Senegal so should be profitable from the group stages.

Guest userhi , i did this bet at the start of the cup with senegal to win but i did it EW , so i got it a 5.50 EW 2x£10 ..never backed it up let it play so ive been doing well so far on the free bets from all their wins, just think should i back the bet up now with senegal sitting at lay odds at 1.93
At odds of 1.93 you could lay £57.59
Liability will be £53.56
Overall profit will be £36.44
should i do this or does the EW leave me with a good bit of profit , Thanks
Matt
1490I’m not sure what the place terms were Connor, but the following figures are based on place terms of 1/2 odds…
If Senegal win, you’re looking at a profit of £67.50.
If Senegal don’t win, you’re looking at a profit of £12.50.
Senegal are currently lay odds of 1.99 to lift the trophy.
To lock in a profit, you would need to do the following calculations to work out your lay stake…
£67.50 – £12.50 = £55.00 (difference)
£55.00 / 1.97 (1.99 minus 2% commission) = £27.92 (lay stake)
If Senegal win > £67.50 – £27.64 = £39.86 profit
If Senegal don’t win > £12.50 + £27.36 = £39.86 profit
So regardless of the outcome, you would make £39.86 guaranteed profit.
Hope that helps!
