BetStars Offer – Champions League Quarter-Final 2nd Legs

The Champions League Quarter-Finals conclude this week and the BetStars money-back special returns! Place a pre-match bet on any of this week’s Champions League fixtures and if the match ends in a draw, BetStars will refund losing Match Result & Both Teams To Score, First/Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Half-Time/Full-Time bets as a free bet up to a maximum of £25.00 per match. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £72.76 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bets:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

We need to place our qualifying bets on selections that don’t see the games resulting in a draw. This ensures that if the match is drawn, we will automatically be eligible for a free bet refund as our qualifying bet will have lost.

This week’s eligible matches are as follows…

Fixture Kick-off Date
Real Madrid v Wolfsburg 19.45 Tuesday 12th April 2016
Man City v PSG 19.45 Tuesday 12th April 2016
Benfica v Bayern Munich 19:45 Wednesday 13th April 2016
Atletico Madrid v Barcelona 19:45 Wednesday 13th April 2016

It’s entirely up to you what you place your qualifying bets on. Having looked at the odds available for the Real Madrid v Wolfsburg game, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Real Madrid/Real Madrid in the Half-time/Full-time market.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Real Madrid/Real Madrid + £14.28 – £16.09 = £1.81 loss
Not Real Madrid/Real Madrid and game drawn – £25.00 + £23.19 + £20.00 (extract 80% from our £25.00 free bet) = £18.19 profit
Not Real Madrid/Real Madrid and game not drawn – £25.00 + £23.19 = £1.81 loss

So, if the match is a draw, we will make a nice profit of £18.19. Any other outcome and we’ll have lost £1.81. Risking £1.81 to make a profit of £18.19, gives us effective odds of 11.05, so given the fact that the odds of a draw are only 7.50, this is a profitable offer over time.

This offer is available on all four Champions League matches this week, giving us a potential overall profit of £72.76 on this BetStars offer. I’ll update the bottom of this post with my actual selections on the other three games after the matches have been played.

Free bets will be credited within 48 hours of each match ending and will expire after 7 days. If you’re unsure how to extract 80% of our £25.00 free bets, check out my Free Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

NOTE: I’ve opted to keep things simple for this blog post and let it run as above, but there is an option to make this offer risk-free by placing an extra lay bet on the draw at Smarkets. If you want to make it risk-free, you can divide your potential loss of £1.81 by 0.98 to give you a lay stake of £1.85. At the time of writing, the draw lay odds are 8.60, giving you a risk-free shot at £4.13. There is also the option to lay a larger amount to give you a guaranteed profit regardless of the outcome.

* My total qualifying loss for this offer was £11.53. Benfica v Bayern Munich was the only match to end in a draw (2-2), meaning I made an overall profit of £8.47 on this BetStars offer. *
