Betway Offer – Chelsea v Arsenal

Chelsea face Arsenal in the early kick-off today and you don’t want to miss this Betway offer. Place a bet on Chelsea v Arsenal at odds of 1.50 (1/2) or above and if Olivier Giroud or Theo Walcott score at anytime, Betway will refund losing bets as a free bet up to a maximum of £20.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £15.16 and here’s how…

Qualifying bet

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

Having looked at the terms of this offer, it seems we can place our qualifying bets on any market as long as we meet the minimum odds requirement of 1.50 (1/2). With that in mind, I’ve opted to keep my qualifying loss to a minimum and place my qualifying bet on a draw.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges. We can calculate our lay stakes using the matched betting calculator.

Place £20.00 on a draw @ 3.50 = Potential profit of £50.00

Lay £19.55 on a draw @ 3.60 = Potential liability of £50.84

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the three outcomes…

Draw +£50.00 – £50.84 = £0.84 loss
Not a draw and Giroud or Walcott scores -£20.00 + £19.16 + £16.00 (extract 80% from our £20.00 free bet) = £15.16 profit
Not a draw and neither Giroud or Walcott scores -£20.00 + £19.16 = £0.84 loss

So, if the game isn’t drawn and Giroud or Walcott scores, we will make a nice profit of £15.16. Any other outcome and we’ll lose £0.84. Risking £0.84 to win £15.16, gives us effective odds of 19.05, which I’m sure you’ll agree is a risk worth taking as there’s every chance they could get on the scoresheet today.

If you’re unsure how to extract 80% of our £20.00 free bet, check out my Free Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
