If either team hits the crossbar, BoyleSports will refund all losing bets on all pre-match markets for that particular match. Just to clarify, the ball must strike the crossbar and rebound back into play. The side posts do not count for the purposes of this offer.
Having looked at the odds available for Sunderland v Arsenal, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Arsenal in the Match Betting market.
I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £25.00…
Place £25.00 on Arsenal @ 1.40 = Potential profit of £10.00
Lay £25.00 on Arsenal @ 1.42 = Potential liability of £10.50
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

| Arsenal don’t win and crossbar struck | – £25.00 + £24.50 + £20.00 (extract 80% from stake refund) = £19.50 profit |
| Arsenal don’t win and crossbar not struck | – £25.00 + £24.50 = £0.50 loss |
So, if Arsenal don’t win and the crossbar is struck, we’ll make a nice profit of £19.50. If, however, Arsenal do win or the crossbar isn’t struck, we’ll have made a small loss of £0.50. Risking £0.50 to make a profit of £19.50, gives us effective odds of 40.00, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run, even though we need Arsenal not to win.
