Guest userHi Matt, any tips on betting in-play? The markets move so fast that the qualifying lost is larger than it can be.
Bet in-play on bookie first then lay immediately on exchange, or wait a bit? With this example what market would you go for? Thanks
Matt
1527Hi Jack. Whatever the sport, when betting in play it’s best to wait until there’s a break in play if possible. As Kim has suggested, half-time is ideal for football as the odds settle right down and don’t fluctuate anywhere near as much as they can do in play. Stick to main markets where possible, but sometimes the scoreline will mean you have to look at some of the more obscure markets.
Kim
Guest userJack, just wait until half time when everything calms down then look at over under goals market for low, closely matched qualifying odds.
Jack
Guest userThanks Kim for the advice! And to Matt too. Much appreciated. Still learning the ropes. Never crossed my mind that HT is counted as in play.
Matt
1527Yes, usually once an event has started and moved in play, it will remain in play until its’ conclusion.

Guest userHi Matt,
Just had a look at T&C, point 12 – only a max £5 profit can be made from the free bet!
So best hope the lay wins!
Matt
1527Hi Matt. Yes, that’s been flagged up before actually and I’m pretty sure it’s a typo and should read £5,000.
12. The maximum profit that can be made from a free bet is £5.000
I’ve not heard of anyone having any issues with the free bets and these offers have been running a while now.

Guest userDoing the over (or both teams to score) in the goals markets works pretty well also. Back with the bookie first and then lay in the exchanges. Then if (as will sometimes happen) there is a goal before you’ve done the lay bet, the odds will have shifted considerably in your favour.
Matt
1527Yep, some sound advice there Pete.
