In play exchange bets, I assume the easiest thing to do is place a £20 back bet and lay it at Smarkets? Thanks.

Hi Matt,

How have you done with the free bet so far… I had to live chat them for it today for yesterdays. Bit of nuisance, but no issue.

Usually spot on with the Sportsbook one… but I don’t like live chatting, bit of a flag, and given I’m taking them for two £5’s freebies a day. Don’t want to have to do every day.

Also… am I right it making the 5% on Back (with this offer through exchange) and then 2% with Smarkets on your calculator?

  I believe so Jacob. When they say ‘stake £20’, that usually means a back stake of £20 or a lay liability of £20.

I’m on Basic package so can’t take part. I’m wondering if I should upgrade and start paying 5% commission in order to be eligible for their offers? What package are most people using?!

  I would say it depends on how active you are and how many lay bets you’re placing. The question is are their reload offers likely to outweigh the 3% commission you’re currently saving?

    I reckon I place around 150 lay bets a month at the moment. If I up it to the REWARDS package I’d probably be paying between £10-£15 more each month in commission. How often do Betfair run offers that are as profitable as this one? – couple of times a year maybe? I’m not quite convinced its worth it – Thats why I’m interested to know what packages other people are on

      They run a few sportsbook promos too and there may be invite only opportunities. I would say stick with the 2% package though if you’re happy with it.

I skipped the Sportsbook one yesterday to back stuff at £20 on the exchange. Nope. Useless offer, I ain’t bringing massive attention to my account constantly asking either.

Seems like you should remove. If you are genuinely getting 2 x £5 from them without requesting via customer service, kudos. And you are in a tremendous minority.

  I haven’t posted the sportsbook version actually John. Some people have had their free bets credited fine and others have struggled. They’ve admitted they’ve been having issues with the crediting of free bets. Hopefully they’re close to sorting it.

Just had an email from them stating bet £20 in play and get £10 free bet now. Seems they’ve upped the offer from £5, unless it’s account specific.

The offer has now been raised to bet £20 in-play, get £10 free bet. Not sure if this available to all though, but if it is it’ll appear on your promotions page.

I have received numerous texts inviting me to participate in the exchange offer only to be told I am not eligible despite being on the 5% rewards package. They claim it is an error on the tech side! I have made a complaint.

I did the exchange offer yesterday on the off chance… Because it was not on any of my promotions or bonuses… No free bet given… But went on live chat and they issued it with no problem. Because this is not an opt in offer I don’t think they have a lot of choice but to give the free bet. If it was they would have restricted from the off.

As others have mentioned, this promotion has been widely advertised by betfair, both through app notifications, in the app itself and even on Twitter, yet I am apparently not eligible despite not being excluded from exchange promotions. It’s extremely aggravating and making me consider moving away from betfair.
