The World Cup is almost here and so it’s time for a Ladbrokes free bet offer! If any of the following: Lionel Messi, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo or Luis Suarez finish top goalscorer of the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil, Ladbrokes will refund losing World Cup Outright winner bets as a free bet up to a maximum of £25.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £18.59 and here’s how…
Qualifying Bet:
We need to place a £25.00 bet on the outright winner market and hope it doesn’t come in, as only losing bets are refunded in the event of one of the named players finishing top goalscorer. Having looked at the odds on offer, I’ve opted to place my bet on Spain.
Place £25.00 on Spain @ 7.50 = Potential profit of £162.50
Lay £24.83 on Spain @ 7.60 = Potential liability of £163.88
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the three outcomes…
| Spain win | +£162.50 – £163.88 = £1.38 loss |
| Spain don’t win and one of the 4 players finish top goalscorer | -£25.00 + £23.59 + £20.00 (extract 80% from our £25.00 free bet) = £18.59 profit |
| Spain don’t win and none of the 4 players finish top goalscorer | -£25.00 + £23.59 = £1.41 loss |
So if Spain don’t win the World Cup and Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo or Suarez finishes the tournament as top goalscorer, we will make a profit of £18.59. We do, however, stand to lose a maximum of £1.41 on any other outcome, but I’m sure you’ll agree this is a small risk worth taking given the likelihood of a South American nation winning the World Cup and one of stars of the tournament taking home the coveted Golden Boot.
