There’s a big Sunday of football action to look forward to and you don’t want to miss this William Hill Scratch of the Day offer! Place a £10.00 bet on any football market and William Hill will give us a £5.00 free bet to use on anything we like. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £3.33 and here’s how…

Key Terms:

  • We must scratch on the Promotion page to reveal the offer.
  • We must click ‘Claim here‘ once the offer has been revealed.
  • We must bet £10.00 on any football market between 00:00:01 and 23:59:59 on Sunday 17th February 2019.
  • Qualifying bet must be placed at odds of 1.20 (1/5) or greater.

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Crystal Palace to beat Doncaster.

At the time of writing, laying our bet at Smarkets gives us the smallest qualifying loss.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

If lay (exchange) bet wins: £

Optimal Overlay

If back (bookie) bet wins: £
If lay (exchange) bet wins: £

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.53…

William Hill logo

Place £10.00 on Crystal Palace @ 1.63 = Potential profit of £6.30

Smarkets logo

Lay £9.53 on Crystal Palace @ 1.73 = Potential liability of £6.95

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Outcome Bookie Exchange Profit/Loss
Crystal Palace win +£6.30 -£6.95 £0.65 loss
Crystal Palace don't win -£10.00 +£9.33 £0.67 loss

So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose a maximum of £0.67 in qualifying for our £5.00 free bet.

Free Bet:

Our £5.00 free bet will be credited upon placement of our qualifying bet and will be valid for 4 days on any market. Free bet stakes are not included in any returns.

By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 80% cash from our £5.00 free bet, so £4.00. If we take into account our maximum qualifying loss of £0.67, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £3.33 on this William Hill offer!

* Crystal Palace won the match 2-0, resulting in a profit of £3.35 on this William Hill offer. *

My free bet for this has failed to appear and I’ve lost 50p for nothing and will lose money into the bookies to boot. Not happy. I take it I’m the only one this has happened to?

This happened to me once when i did this offer, i went on live chat and they said i must of placed the bet too soon after i had opted in to the promotion and they just credited the free bet for me, So if you go on live chat they will give it you. The funny thing is that day i placed alot of bets and when i went to use my free bet there was two so i ended up getting two £5 free bets. try it 🙂

Thanks apc43. I don’t know if I want to draw attention to myself by going to live chat. Hopefully it will appear at some point.

It turned up in the end, after logging out, going away for a bit, then logging back in. Thanks apc43.
