Sheff Wed v Middlesbrough Offer – SportPesa

It’s Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesbrough in the Championship on Friday and SportPesa are getting in on the action! Simply place a bet on any market for Sheff Wed v Middlesbrough and if our bet loses and there are three or more goals scored, SportPesa will give us a bonus equal to 50% of our stake, up to a maximum of £10.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £7.12 and here’s how…

Key Terms:

  • The minimum and maximum qualifying stakes are £10.00 and £20.00 respectively.
  • Qualifying bets must be placed between 10:00 on Thursday 18th October 2018 and 19:45 (kick-off) on Friday 19th October 2018.
  • We must place our bet on the ‘1X2 Full Time‘ market at odds of 2.00 (evens) or greater.

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

It’s entirely up to you which selection you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on a Draw.

At the time of writing, laying our bet at Smarkets gives us the smallest qualifying loss.

We can calculate our lay stakes using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.52…

SportPesa logo

Place £20.00 on a draw @ 3.25 = Potential profit of £45.00

Smarkets logo

Lay £19.52 on a draw @ 3.35 = Potential liability of £45.87

Outcomes:

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Draw + £45.00 – £45.87 = £0.87 loss
Not a draw and 3 or more goals are scored – £20.00 + £19.12 + £8.00 (extract 80% cash from £10.00 bonus) = £7.12 profit
Not a draw and 2 or less goals are scored – £20.00 + £19.12 = £0.88 loss

So, if the match isn’t drawn and three or more goals are scored, we’ll make a nice profit of £7.12! Any other outcome and we’ll lose a maximum of £0.88. Risking £0.88 to make a profit of £7.12 gives us effective odds of 9.09. So, given that the odds are 2.15 (23/20) for three or more goals to be scored, this is a profitable offer in the long run, even though we need to avoid a draw.

If eligible, our £10.00 bonus will be credited within 48 hours of our qualifying bet being settled. Bonuses will be valid for 5 days.

The bonus stake is not included in any returns, so we can treat it exactly the same as a stake not returned free bet. If you’re unsure how to extract 80% cash from a free bet, please see my Free Bet Strategy page.

* Middlesbrough won the match 2-1, resulting in a profit of £7.12 on this SportPesa offer. *
