Sportingbet Offer – Premier League 2016/17

The new Premier League season is almost here and Sportingbet are getting in on the action! Place a pre-season bet on Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea to win the Premier League, and if they win their first five league games, Sportingbet will match our stake as a free bet, up to £25.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £19.64 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

Qualifying bets must be placed between 16:00 on Wednesday 10th August 2016 and 12:30 on Saturday 13th August 2016, to be eligible.

It’s entirely up to you who you place your qualifying bet on. Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Manchester City.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

You can find the Premier League Winner 2016/17 market by entering ‘Premier League’ in the search box at the top of the homepage or by using the following link trail…

Smarkets > Football > Outright > Premier League Winner 2016/17

We can work out our lay stake by entering our odds into my matched betting calculator…

Place £25.00 on Man City @ 3.60 = Potential profit of £65.00

smarkets white

Lay £25.14 on Man City @ 3.60 = Potential liability of £65.36

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the two outcomes…

Man City win + £65.00 – £65.36 = £0.36 loss
Man City don’t win – £25.00 + £24.64 (£25.14 minus 2% commission) = £0.36 loss

So, regardless of who wins the Premier League 2016/17, we will lose £0.36 in qualifying for this offer.

Free Bet:

If Manchester City win their first five Premier League games against Sunderland (H), Stoke City (A), West Ham (H), Manchester United (A) and Bournemouth (H), we’ll receive a £25.00 free bet. We should be able to extract 80% of the £25.00 free bet as cash, so £20.00.

If we take into account our qualifying loss of £0.36, this gives us a potential profit of £19.64. Risking £0.36 to make a profit of £19.64, gives us effective odds of 55.56, which I’m sure you’ll agree makes this a profitable offer in the long run.

If eligible, we will receive our free bet on Monday 19th September 2016. Free bet stakes are not included in any returns.

NOTE: If you do not wish to have funds tied up in your Smarkets account for the duration of the season, you could let your back bet run as a value bet, but that’s down to the individual.

* Man City won their first five Premier League 2016/17 games, meaning I made a profit of £19.64 on this Sportingbet offer. *
