Sun Bets Offer – Second Half, Second Chance

It’s Week 6 of the Champions League 2016/17 group stage and you don’t want to miss this Sun Bets offer! Simply place a pre-match First Goalscorer bet on any Champions League game televised on Sky or BT, and if our bet has lost by half-time, Sun Bets will refund our stake as a free bet up to £5.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us an overall potential profit of £6.00 and here’s how

Qualifying Bets:

This offer is available on all Champions League matches broadcast live on Sky or BT, but I’ll be sticking to the fixtures involving British clubs…

Fixture Kick-Off Date
FC Basel v Arsenal 19:45 Tuesday 6th December 2016
Man City v Celtic 19:45 Tuesday 6th December 2016
Tottenham v CSKA Moscow 19:45 Wednesday 7th December 2016
FC Porto v Leicester City 19:45 Wednesday 7th December 2016

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

If our First Goalscorer bet has lost by half-time, Sun Bets will refund our stake as a free bet up to £5.00.

This offer is applicable to one qualifying bet per customer, per day.

At the time of writing, the lay odds are pretty poor, but the fictional odds in the following example will give you an idea of how this offer might pan out.

We’ll need to lay our First Goalscorer bets on the Betfair Exchange.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

Place £5.00 on Alexis Sanchez @ 5.00 = Potential profit of £20.00

betfair

Lay £4.20 on Alexis Sanchez @ 6.00 = Potential liability of £21.01

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Alexis Sanchez scores first + £20.00 – £21.01 = £1.01 loss
Someone else scores first before half-time – £5.00 + £3.99 + £4.00 (extract 80% from £10.00 free bet) = £2.99 profit
Someone else scores first after half-time or match drawn 0-0 – £5.00 + £3.99 = £1.01 loss

So, if any player other than Alexis Sanchez scores first before half-time, we’ll make a nice profit of £2.99. Any other outcome and we’ll have made a small loss of £1.01. Risking £1.01 to make a profit of £2.99, gives us effective odds of 3.96, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.

This offer is available on all televised Champions League matches. It’s entirely up to you which selections you go for.

I’ll update the following table with my selections throughout the week…

Fixture Selection Back Odds Lay Odds Qualifying Loss Potential Profit
FC Basel v Arsenal
Man City v Celtic Nolito 5.75 6.40 £0.70 £3.30
Tottenham v CSKA Moscow Kane 4.50 5.20 £0.85 £3.15
FC Porto v Leicester City

So, we’ll lose a quid or so on each bet that doesn’t come off, but with approximately £3.00 profit per game up for grabs, this offer is well worth a shot!
