There’s no major tournament featuring the home nations this summer but the European U21 Championship and Confederations Cup 2017 will keep us going and Unibet are getting in on the action! Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £37.48 and here’s how…
Qualifying Bets:
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
Qualifying bets must be placed before each respective tournament gets underway. The European U21 Championship kicks off at 18:00 on Friday 16th June 2017 and the Confederations Cup kicks off at 16:00 on Saturday 17th June 2017.
We must place a single bet of £25.00 or more on the Outright Winner market for each tournament. We’ll then receive a £5.00 free bet for every game that our selected teams win throughout the tournaments. If our team progresses in the knockout stages via extra time or penalties, this will be counted as a win for the purposes of this promotion.
It’s entirely up to you who you place your qualifying bets on. Having looked at the odds available for the Confederations Cup, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on Chile.

Place £25.00 on Chile @ 3.75 = Potential profit of £68.75
Lay £22.98 on Chile @ 4.10 = Potential liability of £71.23
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the two outcomes…
| Chile win | + £68.75 – £71.23 = £2.48 loss |
| Chile don’t win | – £25.00 + £22.52 (£22.98 minus 2% commission) = £2.48 loss |
So, regardless of the outcome, we’ll lose £2.48 in qualifying for our potential free bets.
Having looked at the odds available for the European U21 Championship, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on England at back odds of 11.00 and lay odds of 10.50 for a maximum qualifying loss of £0.04.
Free Bets:
For every match that Chile and England win, we’ll receive a £5.00 free bet within 48 hours of them winning. Free bets must be used on either tournament and the free bet stakes are not included in any returns.
There are 3 group matches and 2 potential knockout rounds at each tournament. If Chile and England win all 5 of their potential matches, we’ll receive £50.00 in free bets. Using straightforward matched betting we should be able to extract 80% of our free bets as cash, so £40.00. If we take into account our maximum total qualifying loss of £2.52, this gives us a potential profit of £37.48 on this Unibet offer!
