Qualifying bet
It’s entirely up to you how you play this offer.
We could take a speculative approach and not lay our Build #YourOdds bet. If our bet loses, we know that by using straightforward matched betting, we should convert our £5.00 free bet into 80% cash, so £4.00. That means the most we can lose on this offer is £1.00 and we could make a nice profit.
We can lock in a fixed profit if we lay our qualifying bet.
So, looking at the selections available, we could place our qualifying bet on Result – Chelsea / Total Goals – Over 2.5 at back odds of 3.90 (29/10). The lay odds are currently 4.60.
Either exchange works for this offer
Betfair and Smarkets are both great options for this offer. If you’ve not used one of them, now is a great time to give them a try.
- Money back as cash up to £20
- 0% commission for 60 days
We can calculate our lay stakes using my Matched Betting Calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £4.26…
Place £5.00 on ‘Result – Chelsea / Total Goals – Over 2.5’ @ 3.90 = Potential profit of £14.50
Lay £4.26 on ‘Chelsea/Over 2.5 Goals’ @ 4.60 = Potential liability of £15.33
Outcomes
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
So, no matter the outcome, we’ll lose £0.83 in qualifying for our £5.00 free bet.
Free bet
Our matched free bet will be credited immediately upon placement of our qualifying bet and valid on any sport for 4 days. Free bet stakes will not be returned with any winnings.
Using straightforward matched betting, we should convert our £5.00 free bet into 80% cash, so £4.00. Considering our qualifying loss of £0.83 gives us a profit of £3.17 on this William Hill offer!

Guest userHi there. How do you lay this on the exchange? I cant do it on smarkets as it wont let me do a multiple on the same game. The betfair exchange app does not seem to have any multiple function.
Matt
1490That’s correct Stephen, the Multiples feature is only for combining separate events. Betfair and Smarkets actually have special markets for this type of bet. Betfair have it listed as ‘Match Odds and Over/Under 2.5 Goals‘ and Smarkets have it listed as ‘Winner and over…‘
I hope that helps.

Guest userAre you able to provide a walkthrough of how to lay a multiple bet on betfair exchange please? Its really not obvious to me how one does it. (I can lay individual legs, but not a composite / multiple / ACCA bet)
Matt
1490Hi David,
Unfortunately, you can’t build multiples and lay them with Betfair like you can with Smarkets. You can lay sequentially though if the events take place at different times and don’t overlap.
I hope that helps.

0Hi Matt,
I’m trying to lay a multiple on Betfair/Smarkets to make use of Build #YourOdds on William Hill. I can’t lay off on Smarkets as the two bets have to be on the same game and I can’t lay off with Betfair as there just doesn’t seem to be the facility to lay multiples at all with them. I use multiples frequently on Smarkets but only when more than one market is involved and I know multiples can be backed on Betfair.
Any help with laying off two bets on a single game?
Many thanks.
Matt
1490Hi Bimco,
Betfair and Smarkets both have markets that combine multiple outcomes within the same event. Please see my response to Stephen above.
