The Cheltenham Festival 2019 gets underway on Tuesday and you don’t want to miss this Totesport Money Back Special! Simply place a bet on the first race at Cheltenham each day and if our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd, Totesport will refund our stake as a free bet, up to £10.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us an overall potential profit of £28.64 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- Offer applies to win singles and the win part of each way bets.
- Applies to bets placed from 17:00 the day before each particular race.
- Seven or more runners must start the race for the offer to stand.
- If our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd, Totesport will refund our stake as a free bet, up to a maximum of £10.00.
Qualifying Bets:
This offer is available on the first race each day as follows…
Race | Time | Date |
---|---|---|
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle | 13:30 | Tuesday 12th March 2019 |
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle | 13:30 | Wednesday 13th March 2019 |
JLT Novices’ Steeple Chase | 13:30 | Thursday 14th March 2019 |
JCB Triumph Hurdle | 13:30 | Friday 15th March 2019 |
If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.
It’s entirely up to you which horses you go for, but it would make sense to select horses with fairly short odds in the hope of a 2nd or 3rd place finish.
Having looked at the odds available for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, we could place our qualifying bet on Al Dancer.
At the time of writing, laying our bet at Smarkets gives us the biggest potential profit.
We can work out our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.35…
Place £10.00 on Al Dancer @ 5.50 = Potential profit of £45.00
Lay £9.35 on Al Dancer @ 5.90 = Potential liability of £45.81
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Extracted | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|
Al Dancer wins | +£45.00 | -£45.81 | £0.81 loss | |
Al Dancer finishes 2nd or 3rd | -£10.00 | +£9.16 | +£8.00 | £7.16 profit |
Al Dancer finishes outside top 3 | -£10.00 | +£9.16 | £0.84 loss |
So, we’ll make a nice profit of £7.16 if Al Dancer finishes 2nd or 3rd and we stand to lose a maximum of £0.84 on any other outcome. Risking £0.84 to make a profit of £7.16 gives us effective odds of 9.52, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
This offer is available on the first race each day of the Cheltenham Festival 2019, giving us an overall potential profit of £28.64 on this Totesport offer!
If eligible, free bets will be credited within 24 hours of our qualifying bets being settled. Free bets will be valid for 7 days and free bet stakes are not included in any returns.
I’ll update the following table with some actual selections after each race…
Race | Selection | Back Odds | Lay Odds | Profit/Loss |
---|---|---|---|---|
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle | Al Dancer | 5.50 | 5.90 | -£0.84 |
Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle | Champ | 5.50 | 5.80 | +£7.32 |
JLT Novices’ Steeple Chase | Defi Du Seuil | 3.75 | 4.10 | +£1.52* |
JCB Triumph Hurdle | Quel Destin | 5.00 | 5.40 | -£0.90 |
* Defi Du Seuil won the race with a starting price (SP) of 4.00 (3/1), resulting in a small qualifying profit courtesy of Totesport’s Best Odds Guaranteed promotion.
