Qualifying bets
This offer is available on all 28 races at Cheltenham Festival 2021.
If you’d like more information about qualifying bets and how they work, please see my qualifying bets guide.
I’m going to use fictional odds in the following example to illustrate how this offer works and I’ll update the table at the bottom of the post with some genuine selections at the end of each day.
Ideally, we need to looking for selections that are as close as possible to the minimum odds requirement of 4.00 (3/1).
At the time of writing, Goshen is back odds of 4.333 (10/3) to win the Champion Hurdle (15:05 Tuesday). Let’s imagine the lay odds are 4.60.
Either exchange works for this offer
Betfair and Smarkets are both great options for this offer. If you’ve not used one of them, now is a great time to give them a try.
- Money back as cash up to £20
- 0% commission for 60 days
We can calculate our lay stake using my Matched Betting Calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £9.46…
Place £10.00 on Goshen @ 4.333 = Potential profit of £33.33
Lay £9.46 on Goshen @ 4.60 = Potential liability of £34.05
Outcomes
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
So, we would make a nice profit of £9.27 if Goshen finishes 2nd, or lose a maximum of £0.73 on any other outcome. Risking £0.73 to make a potential profit of £9.27 gives us effective odds of 13.70, which I’m sure you’ll agree makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
We won’t find a suitable selection for every race, nor should we be aiming to bet on every race. It’s best to be selective, but with 28 races to go at, there’s an overall potential profit of £25.00+ up for grabs on this William Hill offer!
If eligible, cash refunds will be credited as soon as possible after the race (or within 24 hours at the latest).
I’ll update the following table at the end of each day…

Guest userHi Matt,
Do you make your selections on a ad hoc basis when it gets near to the off? Or do you have a good idea who you’ll go for? Would love your tips, as with horse racing knowledge/confidence of nil, it’s tough to choose!
Thanks
Matt
1531Hi Michael,
I don’t follow horse racing either. I think it’s fine to just make your selections based on the odds available.
For the majority of offers, you’ll want to select a horse with low odds as that should maximise your chances of hitting the refund/bonus trigger. Focus on keeping your qualifying losses down and over time the profits will come.
Tom
Guest userHi,
Can you place with the bet boosts they have given and still qualify for this offer??
Cheers
Karl
Guest userI was going to ask this as well
Matt
1531I can’t say for certain Tom, but I’m inclined to think you can use the boosts and still qualify.
