Imperial Cup 2018 Offer – William Hill

It’s the Imperial Cup 2018 at Sandown today and you don’t want to miss this William Hill offer! Bet a total of £20.00 or more on the 14:25 at Sandown and William Hill will give us a £10.00 free bet to use on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival 2018. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £5.88 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

To be eligible for our £10.00 free bet, we must bet a total of £20.00 or more at odds of 1.50 (1/2) or greater on the Imperial Cup at Sandown today. Qualifying bets must be placed between 17:30 on Friday 9th March 2018 and 14:25 (race-off) on Saturday 10th March 2018, to be eligible.

At the time of writing, the odds are not quite tight enough, so I’ll use fictional odds for Whatswrongwithyou in the following example and I’ll update the bottom of the post with some actual odds after the race.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Betfair as they have great liquidity in the run up to races and the site is really easy to use.

We can calculate our lay stakes using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £19.35…

William Hill logo

Place £20.00 on Whatswrongwithyou @ 4.50 = Potential profit of £70.00

Betfair logo

Lay £19.35 on Whatswrongwithyou @ 4.70 = Potential liability of £71.59

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Whatswrongwithyou wins + £70.00 – £71.59 = £1.59 loss
Whatswrongwithyou doesn’t win – £20.00 + £18.38 (£19.35 minus 5% commission) = £1.62 loss

So, regardless of the result of the race, we’ll lose a maximum of £1.62 in qualifying for our £10.00 free bet.

Free Bet:

Our £10.00 free bet will be credited by 09:00 on Tuesday 13th March 2018 and must be used on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival 2018 (Tuesday 13th March 2018).

By using straightforward matched betting, we should be able to extract 75% of our £10.00 free bet as cash, so around £7.50. If we take into account our maximum qualifying loss of £1.62, this gives us a guaranteed profit of £5.88 on this William Hill offer!

* Whatswrongwithyou was available at back odds of 4.333 and lay odds of 4.50. Whatswrongwithyou didn’t win the race, resulting in a profit of £5.99 on this William Hill offer. *
