There’s a big day of racing at Lingfield on Friday and it’s time for another Sky Bet Money Back Special! If our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd in the 14:00 at Lingfield, Sky Bet will refund our stake as cash, up to a maximum of £20.00. Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £19.65 and here’s how…
Key Terms:
- This offer applies to our first bet on the 14:00 at Lingfield.
- Qualifying bets must be placed between 14:00 on Thursday 18th April 2019 and 14:00 (race-off) on Friday 19th April 2019.
- If fewer than nine runners come under starters orders, Sky Bet may withdraw the offer.
- If our horse finishes 2nd or 3rd, Sky Bet will refund our stake as cash, up to £20.00.
Qualifying Bet:
If you’re unsure about how to place qualifying bets, check out my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.
It’s entirely up to you which horse you go for, but it would make sense to select a horse with fairly short odds in the hope of a 2nd or 3rd place finish.
Having looked at the odds available, we could place our qualifying bet on Amade.
At the time of writing, laying our bet with Betfair gives us the smallest qualifying loss.
We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…
As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £20.69…
Place £20.00 on Amade @ 2.10 = Potential profit of £22.00
Lay £20.69 on Amade @ 2.08 = Potential liability of £22.34
Outcomes:
Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…
| Outcome | Bookie | Exchange | Cashback | Profit/Loss |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amade wins | +£22.00 | -£22.34 | £0.34 loss | |
| Amade finishes 2nd or 3rd | -£20.00 | +£19.65 | +£20.00 | £19.65 profit |
| Amade finishes outside top 3 | -£20.00 | +£19.65 | £0.35 loss |
So, we’ll make a nice profit of £19.65 if Amade finishes 2nd or 3rd and we stand to lose a maximum of £0.35 on any other outcome. Risking £0.35 to make a profit of £19.65 gives us effective odds of 57.14, which I’m sure you’ll agree, makes this a profitable offer in the long run.
If eligible, cash refunds will be credited within 24 hours of the race finishing.
* Amade finished 2nd, resulting in a profit of £19.65 on this Sky Bet offer. *

Guest userHi Matt,
I’ve noticed the liabilities seem a little out of kilter between here and smarkets (and yes I’ve changed the commission to 2%). Sometimes it’s out by 1 or 2 pence, but it seems greater than usual today. Any reason for this? Cheers
Matt
1593Can you give me an example Mark and I’ll take a look?
Mark
Guest userIt was just the two horse racing offers that seemed to come out wildly different (I’m only talking about 50p though), but everything looks fine now so it was either something wrong with smarkets, or something stupid I was doing. So no worries.
Matt
1593Okay Mark, thanks for confirming.
