Smarkets New Markets

Great news this week guys as Smarkets finally added First Goalscorer and Asian Handicaps to their list of available markets. I know a few of you have already spotted the new markets, so this is just a quick post to keep everyone up to speed!

First Goalscorer Markets

The First Goalscorer markets have been in the pipeline for a while now, so it’s great to see them finally arrive.

It’ll be available on all matches that offer the ‘Instant Match’ feature.

Before now, we’ve had no option but to lay our First Goalscorer bets with Betfair. With the reduced commission rate of 2% at Smarkets, not only will it enable us to maximise our profits, it should also open up a few more offers that weren’t profitable before when laying with Betfair.

Asian Handicap Markets

Asian Handicap markets counter the perceived bias in a match by levelling the playing field. This is achieved by applying a goal handicap to each side depending on which team is perceived to be the favourite or the underdog.

As you can see, because Lincoln City are the underdogs against Burnley, they have been given a positive goal handicap of +1.5. This means they effectively start the game with 1.5 more goals than Burnley. So Burnley would have to beat Lincoln City by 2 or more goals to win in this particular market.

Future Plans

Smarkets are looking to add ‘Match Result & BTTS’ markets in the very near future, which will be another handy addition for us matched bettors.

It should enable us to take advantage of a few more price boost offers.

Once those have been added, Smarkets will turn their attention towards getting more markets on Instant Match.
