Coral Offer – Australia v New Zealand

The Rugby Championship 2017 gets underway on Saturday and you don’t want to miss this Coral offer. Simply place a £5.00+ win single on the 80 minute Handicap Betting market for Australia v New Zealand and if any forward scores the first try, Coral will double our winnings up to £50.00, in free bets! Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a potential profit of £37.23 and here’s how…

Qualifying Bet:

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how they should be done.

Qualifying bets must be placed between 06:00 on Friday 18th August 2017 and 11:00 (kick-off) on Saturday 19th August 2017, to be eligible.

To qualify, we must place a £5.00+ Single bet on Australia or New Zealand to win in the 80 minute Handicap Betting market. If a forward scores the first try, Coral will double our winnings in free bets, up to a maximum of £50.00. If eligible, free bets will be credited within 24 hours of our bet being settled and will be valid for 4 days. Free bet stakes are not included in any returns.

We need to place our qualifying bet on Australia +17.0. If we place our qualifying bet on New Zealand -17.0, our lay bet will not cover us in the event that New Zealand win by exactly 17 points.

In order to work out our back stake, we need to divide £50.00 by 0.909 (back odds minus 1.00). This gives us a back stake of £55.01. It’s best that we stick to round numbers when placing our qualifying bet, so I’m going to stake £55.00 instead.

We’ll need to place our lay bet on the Betfair Exchange as Smarkets don’t currently offer a Handicap Betting market.

We can calculate our lay stake using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £54.97…

Place £55.00 on Australia +17.0 @ 1.909 = Potential profit of £50.00

Betfair logo

Lay £54.97 on Australia +16.5pts @ 1.96 = Potential liability of £52.77

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

Australia don’t lose by 17+ points and a forward doesn’t score the first try + £50.00 – £52.77 = £2.77 loss
Australia don’t lose by 17+ points and a forward scores the first try + £50.00 – £52.77 + £40.00 (80% extracted from £50.00 free bet) = £37.23 profit
Australia lose by 17+ points – £55.00 + £52.22 = £2.78 loss

So, if Australia avoid losing by 17 points or more and a forward scores the first try, we’ll make a nice profit of £37.23. Any other outcome and we’ll lose a maximum of £2.78. Risking £2.78 to make a profit of £37.23, gives us effective odds of 14.39, which I’m sure you’ll agree makes this a profitable offer in the long run.

* The first try was scored by New Zealand forward, Liam Squire. Unfortunately, Australia lost the match 34-54, meaning I made a loss of £2.78 on this Coral offer. *
