My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Also Setara I did notice in the last few days that Bar One Racing shops -who seem to do the same extra place races as PP & Boyles= often have better odds and they are not cut so quickly.

    Just catching up here.

Yeah FoG, exchange float is relatively big, I try to keep £5-6k in there during Cheltenham and other festivals but was having to constantly top it up from my savings etc so lots of moving money around. The fact that most bookie withdrawals arrive in my account by 3.30pm the following day helps a lot.

Seriously though, I am going to pack it in soon, always did this to buy a nice big house which, down here in the south east is really tough for a first time buyer on a decent but not big wage at work. Also need to keep taking the exotic holidays whilst I’m still young. I want to keep my bank statements clean for six months prior to house buying too. I am also running out of accounts and options to open new ones so its ineviatable the choice will eventually be made for me anyway.

Your to good to give it up Chris, always options for new accounts. Do you use a separate current account for betting? I find that helps you stay under the radar on credit checks. TSB Classic is a good one, you can earn 5% interest on a constant balance of £1500 (worth about £8 a month) you can also earn £10 a month for jumping through a few hoops.

Set up a Paypal account for betting. Tends to be one of the quickest for withdrawals and any deposits show up on your bank statement as Paypal. You can get money from your Paypal account to the bank instantly.

I’m referring to bookmaker accounts, I am running out of family members to assume identities of. At present I just transfer money to the bank account of whoevers bookie account I am using then deposit the same amount. When I withdraw they just send it to me minus a small cut. At this stage, I cant really be bothered to set up Paypal and other payment methods.

Steve – all my profits sit in ISAs and an online savings account that earns 5% interest but limited to £500 top up per month, its still about £150 earned per year though. I use my regular current account plus an additional £2k for when I am running low on my own money at the end of each month. For Cheltenham etc I have to move a few k from the savings account and as a last resort the ISAs which I replace as quick as I can hence why I regularly withdraw.

I have no desire to keep this going much longer to be honest, I enjoy national hunt season but flat racing is a lot harder to get big profits from. Maybe after the Chester festival I’ll think about retirement.

Fair play Chris. I still read these forum out of interest. I had a year off and then dipped back in for 3 months in Novemever, December and January.

Whilst there is clearly money to be made I must say that the enjoyment factor went for me a long time ago and it turned into a bit of a chore. The money has been good but I like having my time back to myself and not going out with my family etc and being antisocial checking my phone every 20 minutes for odds changes…!

That said I want to pay for a holiday so I’m going to start up again for a bit 😆

Know exactly what you mean. Quit my job for two months to hit this hard and just got really bored and lost enthuasiam for it. Was back in another job within weeks.

Holidays are what its all about, nothing better than going somewhere knowing this has paid for it. I am presently raising funds for trips to South Africa and Costa Rica.

I’m off to Turkey at Easter for my 3rd family holiday in the space of a year paid for by the bookies (a week 5* All Inclusive), before I started this I would just be able to scrape together enough for a week in Spain at the budget end of the market. The Mrs moans that I spend too much time looking at my phone and then moans that a week isn’t long enough.

If I didn’t do this I would probably just go back to straight forward punting though so it’s almost a necessity now.

Interesting how this topic has developed, mainly because not alot going on.

Just to add to the mix, my ISA is in Stocks and shares with iii and Hargreaves Lansdown. Last few years it’s been running at 15%+pa. Not for everyone, but risk can be managed. Atm I’m hoping the market will correct as I want to buy.
