Bad EW Races NO CHAT

  • Right an idea I got from oddsmonkey, we post the daily bad EW races on here with no chat or discussion, plenty of topics for that. Think this thread will help us all in case you don’t think it will just skip this please ?

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Yeah I started with about £200 now I have 13k to hand in over 2/2.5 years and have been in 6 hols including a cheeky one to Las Vegas! Not a bad return at all and hoping with what me and the missus have together we hopefully can get a house within the next year. Anyone invested in crypto out of interest?

If you check my Twitter feed you willl see my tipping Bitcoin a couple of years ago at $90. As usual I didn’t follow my own advice.

Missed the wedding so I ‘m not going to the funeral.

I would be too afraid to open an ISA in stocks and shares but seems like its worked out well for you. I’ve opened a cash lifetime ISA (only one building society offering them) and transferred my Help to Buy over before April deadline so should earn a nice wad of interest on that. Gives me more options on buying a house too.

I’m also waiting on the market, I think people who are first time buying right now, particularly in London are crazy. Buying at a peak and will be hit hard depending on what mortgage deals they got.

Been watching Crypto’s, but it’s too late as far as I’m concerned. It’s sucking inexperienced speculators in that are making all the classic mistakes. Some will get lucky if they got in early enough, most will lose a packet.

Was looking at Monero few months back. Check these links out.

I was talking to a guy at a party a few months ago that had £50k worth of Monero round his neck on a USB stick (he had it backed up but was too scared to leave it anywhere).

I think that eventually a few of the big banks will get together and create a coin (or even countries) that will allow legitimate businesses to move money around at low cost and the crooks willl slowly find theirs becoming worthless.

Last few years has been really profitable. Rules I try and stick to:
Only invest money you will not need (you can get a mortgage against the capital almost as easy as cash). You need to look at at 5 year time frame minimum.

Buy funds and investment trusts to manage risk
Spread capital over different countries, sectors, fund managers

Dont sell unless the price doubles. Then sell half.
Don’t sell if the price crashes – look upon it as a buying opportunity.
Dont buy when prices are rising fast – if you see a bandwagon, it’s too late.
Don’t buy when prices are dropping fast – don’t try and catch a falling knife.
Beware of the “dead cat bounce”.

Use SIPP’s for the government 25%.

No-one ever went broke that made a profit.

    Why not both Chris?.

Talking of big dogs, our old friend was slagging us off on Monkey a few weeks ago to his new found £10 free bet followers

I just dont have the energy or time to do both I think.

Well the joke is on the big dog, banned from a free forum now pays a monthly subscription to post on another.

I bought a few hundred pounds worth of ripple, see what happens I suppose but I know what you mean @bbob being late to the party.I got told if you just invest in crypto imagine you have already lost it all then you can deal with the volatility! I would only cash out an epic gain as we all like a flutter don’t we!

Made a small bit today doing the extra place offers by catching a few winners with decent arbs.

Sods law that out of about 15 bets over 4 sites every one of my 5 winning bets was at the same site. Didnt catch the extra 4th place in either(1st and 5th in the first race and 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th in the 2nd).

    Gubbing expected overnight.

Ha I use iii (although only to monitor shares and only have 1 individual holding these days) and hargreaves lansdown for funds

Think you’ve made it sound a little more complicated there sleepless. Long term a half decent fund manager (even a naff one) will outperform cash.
It does potentially tie up cash if you don’t want to sell at a market dip should you need it….. but with matched betting funds can give you more freedom. Say you have 10k savings set aside for various possible scenarios, you can put that into shares for long term knowing you have matched betting cash to dip into should you need it.
