Discipline…

  • Hi i was just wondering if you could all share your approach to staying disciplined?what do you use to keep track of your profits?how do you stop yourself from being stupid with the money in the exchange?Thank you

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

I have 2 accounts with the main bookies so when the more often offers come up I double my profit. its risky having duplicate accounts but can obviously be lucrative!

To be honest I wish I had 2 accounts with most bookies..like every bet365 offer would be £60+ profit….I think in the future I will get my girlfriend to suddenly sign up to a few bookies….as double profit would very nice.

Same, I wish I had two accounts. Getting a girlfriend in the first place would be a good start!

Whilst I’m a seasoned horse racing punter the discipline from this MB comes easy when I see the balances continue to creep up on my betfair plus main bookies accounts. I still like the odd nominal free bet punt on my ante post Cheltenham bets for March since I’ve been going there for over 20 years now. Great weeks racing but it gets paid for now from my MB pot – indeed the “offers” during that week in March alone are incredible. Self financing trip now!!

Just ensure you are getting good value for any punt and there is no harm in it. Just because profit isn’t guaranteed, it doesn’t make a bet foolish!

Got my spreadsheet no discipline needed as its always going up, some days more than most along with a couple rookie mistakes here and there. I tend to use the £10 bet in play as my “mug” bet, lay off as normal with the qualifier and let the rest go. Helps give that little bit excitement

God I love spreadsheets, I just employed someone on Fiverr to get it more automated lol

    Spreadsheets – yes, love them.

If you are tempted to punt (and you lose), think about how long it took you to build up that money via matched betting and you will feel disheartened when you next contemplate betting.

Pressure point – don’t u be bothering how I decide to spend my cash. Discipline not an issue here hence my good build up of cash thanks. An occasional wee wager does no harm in controlled fashion on a sport I know a fair bit about. Thanks for the advice though mate – keep up the counselling work.

I used to bet but since doing this since last April the urge has diminished considerably. I might have the odd bet but I used to bet all day long.

The hardest bit is having a lot of money in the exchanges but not being able to withdraw it as I need the bank roll.

I’m a bit old school, I type every bet out to keep track. Then work out profits each month.

One thing I dont do which I probably should is set myself a target to earn each month, but I’d just be peed off if I didn’t reach it. It’s more fun not doing that…for me anyway.

I still stake a quid on a horse or a footie accum. Enjoy updating my spreadsheet but sometimes wonder where that bet came from when looking at my account statement on the exchange so have to log on to each bookie to find it if it’s been a busy betting day

I primarily bet on football & golf, trade T20 Cricket markets and trade NBA matches also when I can be bothered. I consider myself to be proficient enough to know when I’m getting value on the exchange and utilise stats and knowledge from watching on a dail y basis, which I believe gives me an edge. Been profitable since I began records 1 year ago. Personally I’m using matched betting as a springboard for professional gambling, I just need to build a sufficient bankroll first. Don’t back or lay something unless you have reason to believe that the price in question is either over or under valued by the market.
