Gubbing Spree

  • Apologies for another “woe is me… I’ve been gubbed by X”, but I thought I share with you that I’ve been gubbed by Betfair, William Hill and now Coral in really quick succession.

The interesting thing is that I’ve hardly touched Coral at all! Which leads me to believe that bookies view match betting as such a big problem that they’re beginning to share details of customers who have been restricted. I’m sure there’s data protection laws that prohibit this kind of thing, but I can’t help but wonder if they’re perhaps getting around these laws by sharing data that could be considered non-sensitive? Maybe lists of anonymous postcodes or even user names?

Maybe I’m paranoid, but it seems too much of a coincidence to me (coupled with reading here about some people being immediately gubbed shortly after sign-up).

I’ll continue wearing my tinfoil hat… just in case.

  • New to matched betting?

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

It’s quite obvious if someone is matched betting, they don’t need to share data to figure it out (paddy/betfair being one possible exception).

I was also gubbed from Coral today with an account that’s hardly been used 🙁

Either they are cracking down, spring cleaning or something else…

William Hill today for me. Adds to PP, Coral and Bet Victor recently.

Have a feeling others, inc Bet365 won’t be far away!

I got William Hilled recently too.

That’s Hills/Betway and Stan James for me – I got a scare earlier after I got an e-mail from Sky “Important Service Update” but it was about the site being busy tomorrow – put me through the runner though!

I see the HUGE rise of matched betting in recent months / the past year as a bigger case of increasing gubbings for people. Everyone is entitled to have a go but the books are aware of this and are getting stricter.

I recently read about a company called Iovation that most of the bookies are signed up to. Information regarding unwanted customers is shared with the bookies that sign up to the site. I would imagine the books are doing this in a legal way, it would be too risky not to be.
